I will be riding from the lot leaving at 8:23am on July 4th planning
to do a B- pace of between 35-45 miles depending on if I have someone
to ride with. I plan to do some up hills, some down hills, and some
flats the pace will depend on how I feel.
Mark
Because of the clubs away trip we have no scheduled rides this weekend. If you come out to the lot there will be Roll Your Own Rides on Saturday, Sunday and most likely on Monday. I anticipate that there will be plenty of riders and no problem finding a leader.
On Tuesday we have scheduled my traditional July 4th ride to San Remo which is a remote start from the Fire house in Syosset starting at 9:30.
(Since the schedule says roll your own I'm posting this)
I have to be back early on Sat so I'm doing an early ride. Will be at
lot by 7:00am & cont. from there (40-50 miles).

I Would love to ride but weather.com
hourly forecast shows 50% chance of precipitation. Where do you ride
from? On Tuesday I rode from home to the lot – it was so windy I
was exhausted when I got home.

My solution is www.weather.com. I type in Westbury, NY
and then look at the hourly forecast. If there is still no definitive
answer I call fellow riders in the group to get a consensus of opinion.
If it is iffy – we usually decide to meet at the lot anyway. If it
is not raining when we get there we start out but stay pretty close to the
lot. We usually elect Al who managed to fit in a 40 mile ride within a 10
mile radius of the lot so we can head back if it starts dripping. Many a
the time we head back to the lot, the sun comes out and we detour away once
again for a longer ride.

How do members know when a ride will be called off?
Saturday, I was
prepared to drive to the lot, but when it started raining heavy at
8:15 am, I went back to bed. Then it didn't rain until noon? Sunday,
I hoped it wouldn't rain, and as I started out it started to rain. I
figured that since I was on the road, I would see if anyone was at the
lot. No one showed. On the way home, I saw a group from Little Neck,
who started out at 8:00 am and decided to finish the ride in the rain.
Now that I am really into this, I found it very depressing not to ride
all weekend. Spin class helped, but not much. I guess this is normal?

The best cure to depression is this. You live in the Syosset area,
there's this small shop called Road Worx, go there and watch your bike
get completely overhauled by Will. This is exactly what I did yesterday
and it was so fun than a spinning class. hehehe

Sometimes the ride leader will make a posting on this site if he/she decides to call off a scheduled ride, but It is a matter for each rider to decide whether to ride or not. A scheduled ride can be cancelled and people might still show up at the lot. Some people don't like to ride in any type of precipitation while others are perfectly comfortable riding in a light rain. It can be raining heavily in Queens and sunny in Syosset.
If you really want to ride and are unsure of what others are doing make a posting on this site or just go to the lot. At worst, you can ride out of the lot by yourself - which stills beats spinning in the gym.

Thanks for your concern for my knee.
Standing in the rain in Greenwich
is the same as standing in the rain anywhere else, it’s wet.

I will be at the parking lot in Greenwich to hand out cue

I am concerned that riders who do not check the web site may
show up in Greenwich
for Saturday's remote start ride. Consequently, I would appreciate it if
you would telephone anyone from the group who you think is planning to go
to Greenwich to
alert them that the ride has been cancelled. There will be a Roll Your
Own ride from the lot in Westbury starting at 9:00 a.m.
Due to a recent injury to my right knee, I am unable
to ride. I was
hoping it would be better by now, but it is still painful after riding
10-15 miles.

Who's gonna be the leader on 'The Estate Tour'? How fast is it going to
be on the flats and on the hills? How many are coming?
Will it be a combined B and B- on the MPBC multi-club ride on Sunday?
