At Lyn’s suggestion and I know some of you agree,
forming a new C+ Group at this time might not be beneficial. The C‘s
don’t have enough rider leaders and I think those forming a new C+ group
might find they are also lacking leaders. Lyn suggested that perhaps when
applicable and we have enough riders to do so, the C’s could form 2
groups that will ride the same route, the faster group ahead with the slower
group following, In these cases it would be good if the leader would
provide a cue sheet for the leader of the alternate group. The C‘s
have a good number of riders that like a faster pace but are riding with
our group either because they haven’t gotten up the nerve to move on or
because they just like the group and don’t feel they need to move
on. I think it would breathe some new life into the C’s and would
be beneficial to those C+ members to join us and lead some rides as there are
places we just never manage to ride too that the C+ Group rides to routinely,
and I am sure the C’s have routes that the C+ Group have never traveled.
The C Group generally rides at a pace of 11-13 mph, generally in the upper
range. We generally do around 40 miles but certainly are up for more mileage
if the situation calls for it.
I am now recruiting for August. Other than the 13th
which Leonard Kirsch has signed up for, all dates are open. Lenny, by the
way, is one of our newer, faster riders who enjoys riding at the front or ahead
of the pack. He is very strong, mainly from attending spinning classes
but has also been riding on his own. Please let me know if you would like to
lead a ride and what date you would prefer. Please include your phone number
and a blurb for the bulletin or just miles and destination and I can take it
from there.
Hope your knee heals quickly and you are
back at the lot very soon. We miss you.

Thanks for the confidence, but I would never be able
to lead the riders
to such clean and welcoming pit stops as the other leaders. Maybe I'll
be ready some day.

Due to a recent injury to my right knee, I am unable to ride. I was
hoping it would be better by now, but it is still painful after riding
10-15 miles.
Perhaps Lisa would like to lead from the lot.

I do not think the creation of two groups can or should be done without
serious thought and consideration. First of all, how would the two
groups be designated. The average ride range within the B- group is
only 13 to 15 mph. To split this up would mean there would be one
group riding in the 13 mph range and one group riding in the 14 mph
range. If people are riding over 15 mph perhaps they should move up to
the Bs. Before the club goes and starts dismantling a structure that
has been in place for about 30 years, there should be meetings to
discuss how and if it should be done, who is going to assume a
leadership role (we all know Kenny has trouble finding ride leaders for
one group much less two) and what is it going to mean to the club.

I intend to ride from my house on Friday at 9:30. I am thinking of trying a new route to San Remo which should be about 50 miles. If anyone is intersted let me know.
In the
meantime, while you are organizing, how about signing up to lead some C rides.
Missed you on Sunday, we did a decent speed ride up Heartbreak and through Cove
Edge. It was a short ride because of the holiday.

I am willing to help organize a new true C+ group. I
just joined and
really like the members of the C Group and appreciate that they allow
some of us to ride ahead. Those interested should contact me,
especially those willing to lead rides. We should take our time
organizing and continue to ride with the C Group until we are large
enough to go on our own. Once organized, we can continue to socialize
with the C Group and even occasionally ride together. While I will
open a Yahoo email address, please copy emails to counselak@aol.com

Great Idea. You may want to open a yahoogroup site
similar to current b- and b groups rather than a
separate email.
