Hi there
I welcome all new members to the group.
Regarding Antranik, sure there is a very good women's team actually.
They were crowned champions for 2002-2003 season after
defeating the previous champions Hekmeh Mar Doumit in a play-off
series that ended in Antranik's favor 3-1.
Unfortunately the Lebanese national women basketball team has
declined to go to Bangkok for 2004 Asian Championships. This is such
a shame, because had our women gone, with the talents that we have,
they would possiby win the Asian trophy. Instead we make huge
blunders and forfeit the chance that Lebanon achieves something good
internationally! Now instead, Jordan and Iraq women's team will
represent the WABA region in Bangkok Thailand.
Speaking of Iraq, you may like to know that a new league has started
actually with 8 teams: Al Hilla - the title holders, Al Karkh - the
runners up, Al Shourta (Police), Al Jaysh (the Army), Al A'zamiyyah,
Al Armany (the Armenian Club), Dahouk and finally Naft al Janoub
(Petrol of the South). These information are from Eurobasket portal.
