Lebanon Page on Indianapolis 2002 Site

Just checking the official World Basketball
Championship site. As you know Lebanon is one of the 16
qualifiers to this event, only one of two Asian
representatives, the other being the Peoples Republic of
China.

The site is
at:
http://www.2002worldbasketball.com

The Lebanese men are
featured on a special Lebanese
page
at:

http://www.2002worldbasketball.com/flash/teams/asia/lebanon.htm<b\
r>
It is basically the roster of the team in the Asian
Basketball Championships in 2001. They have a casual picture
of the Lebanese basketball team (but surely they
could have done better in picking a nicer picture). The
page has the full roster at the time and detailed
statistics on our boys which is worth a
checking!!

Most probably the roster will witness some changes,
but the ones mentioned on the page from the Asia days
in descending order of avearge scoring per game were
as follows:

Fadi el Khatib (1.96m, F) - 22.5
points per game
Joe Vogel (2.10m, C) - 12.75
ppg
Rony Fahed (1.83m G) - 10 ppg
Walid Doumiaty
(1.80m, G) - 8.63 ppg
Yasser el Hage (1.98m, C) - 6.50
ppg
Ghazi Boustani (1.92m, F) - 5.13 ppg (there is a typo
in the name which is printed Chazi)
Elie Kassouf
(2.04m, C) - 4.75 ppg (are we sure about the quoted
height?)
Abdo el Chidiac (1.87m, F) - 3.29 ppg
Richard
Hallet (1.93m, F) - 2.29 ppg
Moussa Moussa (1.96m, G)
- 2.14 ppg
George Chibani (1.80m, G) - 2.00
ppg
Ali Awarkeh (1.94m, G) - 1.00 ppg

There are
also some features taken from the
www.asianbasketball.com site about Lebanese Asian news and full contacts
to FLB officials are also posted.

The other
15 teams besides Lebanon you ask?
-Angola and
Algeria from Africa
-Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Puerto
Rico, USA and Venezuella from the Americas
-China
and Lebanon (of course) from Asia
-Yugoslavia,
Turkey, Spain, Germany and Russia from the European
Continent
-New Zealand representing Oceania.

The
competition is due for period August 29 to September 8, 2002
in basketball-crazy city of Indianapolis in Indiana.
