Shea-dro: Mets welcome new ace
Club holds press conference at Shea today

NEW YORK -- Pedro Martinez told the world that he was
Big Apple-bound Tuesday afternoon in the Dominican
Republic.

It took about 24 hours longer for the club to make the
same acknowledgement, but the Mets agreed on Wednesday
afternoon that they had joined forces with the
charismatic hurler. The club held an 11 a.m. ET press
conference at Shea Stadium today to introduce Martinez
as its latest addition.
