Hello -- this is sort of off the beaten path, but as we near the 30th
anniversary of the White Sox "Disco Demolition Night", I came across an
interesting bit of trivia. Here it is:
QUESTION
What Latino player personally witnessed three major league games being forfeited
due to riots in the stands/on the field?
ANSWER
Rosendo "Rusty" Torres
The Puerto Rican outfielder was with the New York Yankees, when the Senators
hosted their last game in Washington in 1971. While with the Cleveland Indians,
he was there for the infamous Ten Cent Beer Night in Cleveland in 1974, and
finally Torres played for the Chicago White Sox during the never-to-be-forgotten
Disco Demolition Night, July 12, 1979 at Comiskey Park.
Wonder if anyone can top that!
