Friends,
It is a real shame how a reporter can come up with some many words with so much
misinformation. This is a very inaccurate article which surrounds the
differences between both bigleaguers, which is a very personal matter that just
belong to both of them.
I think this witer broke some of the unwriten "codes" by publishing and make
bigger what is going on between Renteria and Cabrera in a very irresponsible
way.
I personally visited the Colombian league last season and I was very surprised
about what I saw: a developing league witha lot of potential and lots of
enthusiams from each and every person involved. Their goal is to reach the
Caribbean Series competition and a World Baseball Classic. The region where
they play is a safe and touristic place (Cartagena and Barranquilla) and has
nothing to do with the Colombian guerrillas, that Arangure made reference, and
it is a very safe place even compared to some other major cities in Latin
America. The Colombian League has made clear their frustration with this
reporter because they showed him a very positive side of Colombia and the result
was a very deep tergiversation of the story.
I encourage you to get more information and even to visit Colombia and their
winter baseball for you to see their advances and honest baseball work. The
problems of Cabrera and Renteria are very personal and should not become mixed
with the work of the people who make baseball happen there.
