Book reveals Clemente's ill-fated plane was from Miami

New Year's Eve 1972.

Any disciple of America's national pastime instantly
recognizes the painful significance of that date.

The beloved Roberto Clemente, the major league's first
Latin superstar, perished in a plane crash that night
on a mission of mercy to earthquake-ravaged Nicaragua.

His chartered DC-7 plunged into the Atlantic Ocean
minutes after takeoff from Clemente's native Puerto
Rico. He was 38.

For years, Miami's connection to one of sports
history's biggest tragedies was clouded.
