First of kudos to Anthony and NWSABR for putting on an excellent convention. What a fine experience. I am still in Washington admiring the beauty of the Cascades and Deception Pass, but am headed to Victoria tomorrow.
As for Clemente, it is apples and oranges to compare him to Robinson. With light-skinned Latinos being in the majors in the 20s and 30s, Clemente was not a pioneer. Some might say Vic Power was more outspoken and paid the price for it. I think there is a way for MLB to recognize the achievements and accomplishments of Latinos, but retiring the number isn't it.
