Reds to broadcast two games in Spanish
The Reds on Radio Network will broadcast Cincinnati
Reds games in Spanish for the first time on Aug. 16
and 17.
Cincinnati station 700 WLW will broadcast the English
version while its brother station 1360 HOMER The
Sports Animal (WSAI-AM) will broadcast in Spanish.
The play-by-play announcer will be Francisco Romero,
accompanied by color analyst and former big leaguer
Gil Heredia. The two games against the San Francisco
Giants will be broadcast from the Great American Ball
Park.
Romero has served as the Spanish-language voice of the
Milwaukee Brewers on weekend home games for the past
three seasons, as well as the color commentator for
the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1999-2000. He also
broadcasts for Arizona Wildcats football and
basketball games.
Heredia spent 16 years in Major League Baseball,
pitching for the Giants and Expos before joining the
Oakland A's.
To date, there are no plans to broadcast in Spanish
for Reds games beyond these two dates.
