Esteban Enrique Bellan was the first Cuban-born ballplayer to appear in big leagues, as seen on this list: http://www.baseball-reference.com/bio/Cuba_born_date.shtml Bellan was primarily an infielder appearing in 1871 and 1872 for the Troy Haymakers and 1873 for the New York Mutuals of the National Association.
Richard Malatzky submitted a change in the biographical data for Chick Pedroes, making him the second Cuban-born ballplayer to appear in the big leagues. Originally, his place of birth was reported to be Chicago, where he appeared as an outfielder in 2 games in 1902 for the National League club at the age of 32. He is interred in Montrose Cemetery in Chicago.
