Greetings! This note is from NWSABR member Kit
Krieger, who runs Cubaball Tours. Kit is announcing

Friends:
The CubaBall tour is confirmed for March 24-31,
subject only to enrolling sufficient participants.
Given the most recent information about travel to Cuba
from Canada, I am optimistic that we will be fully
subscribed.
We have be tracking travel to Cuba from Canada and can
report that Americans traveling to Cuba from Canadian
airports are not having any problems with reentry into
the United States. Canadian customs officials are
honoring requests not to stamp passports which would
reveal a double entry into the Canada in a short time.
The itinerary is a work in progress. Because the tour
coincides with the playoffs, locations of games will
not be known until the playoff schedule is announced
in March. However, we are prepared to attend games in
cities within a reasonable distance from Havana,
namely Matanzas, Pinar del Rio, Santa Clara, Havana
Province, Ciefuegos, and, of course Havana itself.
Pinar del Rio and Havana's famed Industriales team are
perennial contenders, so those stops are probable.
To recap other itinerary events:
- Meeting with Carlos Rodriguez, the commissioner of
Cuban baseball
- Meeting with Eddy Martin, the Vin Scully of Cuba,
who has been the voice of Cuban baseball for more than
a half century
- Meeting and autograph session with Conrado "Connie"
Marrero, former Washington Senator and last surviving
major leaguer in Cuba.
- Visit to stadium and historic plaques at La
Tropical, home to Cuban professional baseball from
1930-1945
- Visit to the baseball monuments at Havana's
Christopher Columbus cemetery Visit to the Pena ("Hot
Corner") in Havana's Central Park
- Visit to the Plaza Hotel, where Babe Ruth and John
McGraw's touring Giants stayed in 1920
- Visit to Sports City, where Cuba's stars of the
future are changed Seminar on contemporary Cuba with
officials of MOVPAZ, the Cuban Peace Movement Tour of
historic Havana Music and other cultural events
-Visit to Trinidad, colonial town and UNESCO World
Heritage Site There are always other surprises and
events.
We will request a meeting with Fidel and have
requested a meeting with Sivero Nieto, Cuba's greatest
baseball historian.
Registration will be available on the revised Cubaball
website (www.cubaballtours.com) by Tuesday morning.
We are going to offer a land only price for those who
wish to arrange their own transportation or those who
may be able to use points on Air Canada. Prices will
be confirmed by Tuesday and it looks like no price
increase from last year. Don't miss this amazing
baseball experience. There may be no "next year".
