I joined deeperblue back in 02 trying to get into freediving and
spearing, but moved to LA far from the beach after being laid off.
Well i'm back in Orange County and live about 3 miles from the beach in
Newport and would like to get into free diving and spearing. I found a
couple of old guns that I bought a while back. I have a mask and some
fins, but haven't put on my old surfing spring suite in 7 years so I
know I will need another wetsuit as I've put on about 20 lbs since
then. To be honest i'm out of shape so i'll start hitting the 24 hour
pool in NB soon. I'm also going to get a copy of Terry Maas book, but
was looking for buddies in the LA/OC area. Since I'm very new I'm
looking for any type of training or even if anyone is going out I'll
just help with gear, and floats etc. Since I know little or nothing
about the sport even seeing how others setup their gear etc would great
training for me.

Do the members meet monthly, or do you just post and meet when needing
to plan a trip. Since I have very little gear and training I probably
need to get a shopping list of needed items first!
