Turned out to be a great series for our pitchers winning the last two
games by shut outs. Sort of reminds me of last year. Nice to
finally win a series again and get back on track.

Fred McGriff got the scoring started in the second inning when he launched a 3-0 fastball into the upper deck in right field for his 492nd career home run. The two-run shot gave the Devil Rays a 2-0 lead.
That was what I was going to say. As long as he is winning the fans like him. When he is not, the fans want to send him to AAA or release him. I for one love him and sucking or winning, I want him to stay. I'm not one of the "bandwagoners" when Lima pitches a good game.
We needed that great performance last night as well as the offense
waking up like it did. Nice that Roberts was back in there even if
he went 0-5.

I had just written at the beginning of the week that the Giants are gaining ground.... One thing about Johnson though, the Dodgers have managed to do a decent job against him. It was Schilling that was the bigger problem.
Too bad that its Johnson tonight for the D-BACKS! Chalk up another L !! Oh YEA then Webb on Saturday, who has been struggling, but I got a $1 says he gets back on track just in time to face our BOYS in BLUE!!!
Buy the way, thanks to the crappy play of the Dodgers and the Padres for that matter...the Giants are looking to be in first place by the end of NEXT WEEK!!!!!!! GOD !!!!!!!!!! I HATE THE GIANTS!!!!!!!! You should hear thier band wagon fans. Two weeks ago the season was over, NOW they are talking DIVISION CHAMPS!!!!
mud ----- stuck in GIANT country!!! somebody help me.
ps. SCREW THE NEW ATTITUDE!

Really a great game pitched by Weaver (he's been very solid lately)
but we lost the game yesterday and the series to the Brewers. Yep,
the Brewers. We actually have the same record as them now and are
only three games over .500 as we slipped out of first place. The
problems again, no offense.

At this point, I would prefer not making that trade. All we really gain is lots of salary, and possibly 20 HR. Encarnacion, if I recall correctly, is making about $1.5 million. That would be a big hit in the wallet. For the money, Encarnacion is a much better deal.
Toronto GM J.P. Ricciardi on May 24 refuted a radio report that said the Blue Jays would send slugger Carlos Delgado to the Dodgers for OF Juan Encarnacion and pitching prospect Brian Morris, the Toronto Star reported.

I don't see how that would happen since Delgado makes MORE than Green, about 18 Million per season. I will be very surprised if this deal is pulled off.

Nice win yesterday beating the Brewers 5-3. We really could use a
good series before we play Arizona for the first time this year.
Lima got the win in relief and Gagne finally got another save. Nice
game hitting from Cora and Izturis.

Nomo's going to miss his next start due to his cut fingernail or
something. Lima is going to get the start instead. Lima's been
great out of the bullpen. I would use this as an opportunity to
recall Edwin Jackson and give him a start. Throw Nomo on the DL for
15 days (retroactive) and give his surgically repaired shoulder a
little early rest.
dan
I agree, I could care less how many games we win as long as we make
the play-offs.

Brown was a cancer.
All I know is that two years ago the Dodgers won 92 games and watched the playoffs while the Twins who won like 82 games and went to the playoffs. So if they lose every game for the rest of the year and still manage to make the playoffs, SO BE IT!! AS FANS WE DESERVE IT!!! I don't care if all the other 31 teams quite playing and the Dodgers are named WORLD CHAMPIONS by default!!!!
Anyways I have to say after a tough road trip through the much more "TALENTED" east division, 1 out of 6 is not bad!!! Who would of thought the Dodgers would still be in FIRST!!! And yesterday, only one run but hey 13 hits.....not bad, not bad at all!

I agree that the Brown trade was the right move. He was making a
load of money and is still injury prone. Plus we got a guy who
should be a decent pitcher (Weaver) in return and a good minor league
prospect. Plus the money that we freed up to trade him should leave
us room to pick up a good player around the trade deadline. Plus I
don't think Brown wanted to be here anymore.

Just one run again yesterday. This offense is beginning to resemble
last year's squad although definitely think there is more talent on
this year's team.

We have lost nine of the last ten games, and I don't see the problem being our hitting. The starting pitching seems to be wanting in a serious way. Not sure what, if any, the cure will be, but I believe that we could sure use some starting help on the mound.

Definitely right about Beltre. You can see him pull up in pain when
he just stops from going to his left when it's a hit to the SS.
Problem is that taking time off probably won't help. He needs
surgery.

Last night really sucked again although Ishii didn't pitch all that
bad. Some poor defense cost us two runs and obviously no offense.
Sort of figuring out how important Roberts at the top of that line-up
is to our offense.
