Now that spring training is finally upon us, I figured I would make my predicitons. Granted, any decent trade could change things a bit, but alas...
AL West: It all comes down to whether the A's pitching staff stays healthy. I think it will.
Prediction: Oakland Athletics squeak by the ANAHEIM Angels
AL Central: This is going to be a tough decision. With injuries to other teams, Cleveland may have a shot,l but in the end, the Indians don't look to have it together this year.
Prediction: Tigers win by a handful of games
AL East: The Yankees still have one of the biggest lineups in baseball and will be a formiddable opponent, but the other AL East teams have improved more than the Yankees in the
offseason.
Prediction: Yankees finally get dethroned by the Red Sox
AL Wild Card: The dethroning is short lived when the Yankees beat out the opposition for the wild card.
NL West: In a league vastly improved it could really be anybody's division. The only team that really unimproved is the Giants.
Prediction: Dodgers over the Diamondbacks
NL Central: Where oh where will Roger end up? That question is what really determines this division. If he goes back to Houston, they have a good shot. If he goes to Boston or New York, he doesn't.
Prediction: Clemens leaves for an East Coast team and the Cardinals fall embarassingly fast.
Cubs surprise the world and win the division! You heard it here first.
NL East: In what is likely to be a three-way race for two post season berths, the most exciting baseball is probably going to come out of the NL East-- and the Braves, still won't be a part of it.
Prediction: The Marlins return to the top, barely ahead of Philly and the Mets.
NL Wild Card: Whoever finishes second in the NL East. Probably the Phillies.
Most improved team AL: Kansas City Royals
Most improved team NL: Chicago Cubs
Darkhorse team AL: Toronto Blue Jays
Darkhorse team NL: Milwaukee
