Supposedly the reason that Paul DePodesta hasn't been able to get a
middle of the line-up guy is that with the season just about to start
no one is willing to give up someone from the middle of the line up
when they all still have hope. That makes sense. However, now one
has become available but he's got a lot of question marks that come
with him as well. Milton Bradley, who was going to hit fourth for
them, is on the trade block. The reason for this though is constant
problems over the last couple years with him and management which
culminated with him leaving camp after getting benched for not
running out a pop fly (which dropped in for a hit). He's had run ins
with other players as well (remember with Paul Lo Duca last year).
Supposedly over the off-season he worked hard and came into camp in
great shape. He's certainly got a lot of talent. If we were to go
after him though we'd probably have to move Green to first base. In
addition, Bradley has had injury problems over the last couple
seasons. A good thing though is that he is only under a one year
contract so not stuck with a long term commitment. Plus could
probably get him for much cheaper despite Cleveland's claim that a
lot of teams are negotiating for him as they just seem to want to get
rid of him before the season. I have mixed feelings about going
after him but it'll be interesting to see if DePodesta makes a move
for him.
