The Mega was fantastic...I cannot stop smiling! People at work are thinking that there is something extra in my coffee today and that I am crazy. :) All I have to say is the combination of Swedish fish and PB&J is just too good.
Thanks for the well wishes...and GOOD LUCK this weekend to Liz for the Chicago marathon, Lynne for Milwaukee (did I get that right?), Tara and Teresa for the Dam Half (which I am contemplating)...and I hope I didn't forget anyone else!
Thanks for the good wishes. I have to say that I think Beth and I
come down firmly on the side of all those who LOVE the Megatransect
(sorry Morgan!). We had a great time. See you soon back on
the roads.

You two were so well prepared, how could you not love it?
I talked to the race director last night and he said they actually added more elevation to the course this year, so extra congratulations to both of you. And you both placed in your age groups!

I would like to echo Tara's good luck wishes. You two are going to do totally awesome!!! You have done some excellent prepping and now is the time to enjoy!! You will be coming back to tell us all how great it was and ask, "Morgan, what were you whining about, you wimp!?
I don't get to the Creamery in the mornings so I hope that I'd still be
considered a remote running buddy. I'm considering to do the Philly
marathon. I haven't yet registered, but I believe the start time
will be the same for both races.

I'm passing along the following weekend run option in case anyone wants to preview the Dam Half course. I'm going to go, and I assure you Joel's pace will not be intimidating. I ran Mt. Nittany with him a couple weeks ago.

Trail runners,
I'd like to get out to R.B. Winter State Park and do the Dam Half course (half-marathon rugged trail race -
http://www.damhalf.com/). I'll be running at a pretty leisurely pace. If anybody else would like to go, email me. We could carpool since it's a bit of a trek from State College/Bellefonte. Saturday and Sunday are both fine. If you're interested, let me know what day and time you'd like to meet. Thanks!
Way to go Tara (& family), Lynn

Herc Open
Hi ladies
Just wanted to thank you for all the good luck wishes and let you know that I
survived the 1st Annual Herc Open! It didn't have a boulder field, but those
ski slopes were steep. Just for a point of comparison, I averaged just under
13-min. miles at the Megatransect, and 13:40-ish miles at the Herc. No roots,
no rocks, no mud, no boulders, no "f-ing little trees"--just
elevation! I finished the 16-mile course in 3:39, the same time as my first
marathon.
The best part of the whole day was having my mom, my aunt, a family friend, and
my grandmother with me. These are some awesome women. Everyone except my
grandmother (who was our designated cheerleader and baggage handler) completed
the 4.5-mile short loop, with my super mom beating the other two to the finish.
She was one of only two 60-year-olds to complete the race.
I'm hoping my schedule might allow me to come "run" with you all one
morning this week (with the shape my legs are in, I'm not sure if what I'm
capable of can properly be called running), but if not I will see you once the
semester starts!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that we have a Team in Training information
session tomorrow morning at 9am at the State College Municipal Building
on Allen St. Here is an opportunity to come find out how you can help
the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society fight blood cancers and train for a
marathon or half marathon at Disney or the Phoenix Rock-n-Roll both in
January.
If you would like more information, let me know, or just show up
tomorrow morning or check out the website www.lls.org and check the
Team in Training section.
I'm back to running now! So I hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
(sorry about the multiple emails to the different groups if you are more than one of them!)
Just dropping a line to let you know what's up this Saturday morning!! We are meeting some at Colyer lake at 6am to bus them back to Tussey parking area in the Woods not the ski parking area! To start our 6:30am run....Some of us more crazy folk are running 18 miles tussey to Colyer and back! BUT don't fear there are shorter options also!! That's why we are meeting some at Colyer lake first!! So they will be only running one way.....From tussey parking to Colyer lake.....(their cars will be waiting at the lake for them,
see!!) That is about a 9miler!! Then there are some you may park at the Bear Meadows monument so the option would be either 4 miles from tussey to Bear meadow or a 14 milers from Tussey to Colyer to the Bear Meadows Monument....SEE plenty of options.... You are more then welcome to come join us for an early run......so of us will be taking it slow!! We will have water stops along the way, just in case you would like to know about refueling!!
Well, I guess that's it!! If your up for an adventure out in the woods you are more than welcome to come join us!! Have a great weekend!!!
Your running buddy,
Christine
Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha! Play Monopoly Here and Now (it's updated for today's economy) at Yahoo! Games.
Is anyone interested in doing the Tussey run up and back tonight? It is a 6.2 mile leg (so I was thinking of doing it up and back to do a total of 12+ miles). It starts at 6 p.m. from Whipple Dam State Park.
On Saturday I ran with a newcomer to the area named Stephanie. She's a new professor at Penn State and interested in joining you for 6am runs, possibly tomorrow. Since I haven't been running with you all summer (I miss you all!) I thought I should check to make sure someone will be there before I tell her to show up.
happy happy happy birthday Michelle and Tara! Kristy, GOOD LUCK this weekend, you will do a fabulous job and represent for Central PA! Rebecca, we miss you! Is there any way you can get a small charter plane up here every morning? It's for your health!
Gina - we miss you too! I have my fingers crossed for fast healing.
Just wanted to a great big, huge, ginormous (yes, it's officially a
word) birthday wish to Michelle Dimidio who has a big birthday tomorrow

Best to you all,
Morgan
Thanks for giving everyone the update, Liz. And congratulations on your success, Kerry. And Gina, thanks for sharing the photos. I was enjoying reminiscing over them so much that I burned my cornbread. Morgan, I hope your toe heals soon.
I wanted to say thanks to everyone who came to the party, shared gifts and words of encouragement, and for all the love you all shared with me over the past few months.
I watched myself running as I passed shop windows this morning. I didn't realize I looked like a really slow runner with a slight beer belly. (If anyone didn't know, I'm pregnant). I can hardly believe I was running a marathon a few months ago.
I've been procrastinating sending out an update because I wanted to get some pictures together of the house. Feel free to view the album. We have an apartment in this pre-civil war historic home on UVA campus.
