Hello ladies,
Well, Grace got quite an initiation this morning! I just went back
to look at the route I had mapped out for this morning, thinking that
I had included an extra part up University Drive to get to 6.3 miles,
but instead, I found out that the route we did was the whole 6.3
miles. So, not only was it very challenging hill wise, but also
longer that our other runs!!!! You can check it out at this link:
http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/united-states/pa/state-college/247239978
Let me know if you all want to keep it in our repetoire.
To answer your question, Grace, we (I) usually decide spur of the
moment when we get to the run, but I can certainly decide ahead of
time. We have some staples (which I have mapped out on "map my run"
too like Tudek Park, High School Run, and Toftrees Trail) but right
now we are very limited because of the darkness and the snow.
However, that all might change, at least temporarily until the clocks
skip ahead, in the next week or so. I will try to remember to let
you know ahead of time. Also, if you email me the night before you
are coming, that will help remind me. For tomorrow, we will do this
route (but it's a short day, so you might just want to start with the
group):
http://www.mapmyrun.com/route/united-states/pa/state-college/253164124
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
hi Grace!
It's nice to finally be able to put a face with your name! I'm so
glad you ran with us this morning...and yes, it was a challenging
run...so "GREAT JOB!"
I started running with this group in July/August with the intention
of only running twice a week and then doing the treadmill the other
days but I enjoyed the group runs so much that I abandoned the gym.
You'll realize it's such a fun, wonderful, and supportive group of
women. I'm so glad to have them as my friends! I don't know what I
would do without them now!!! :)
So... "Welcome to the group!" I'll see you tomorrow!
Hugs,
Kristy

Mary - I hope you are feeling better. I'm not sure my message made it to you on Sunday? I think it went to your work email address. Morgan said you have not been feeling well for a number of days. Please take care - it's too early in the year not to feel good!
I want to thank everyone who came out and ran this morning. It was the first time, except for an indoor run at Rec hall, that I was actually outside running with others. It was great to meet other early morning runners.
I will not apoligize for being slow (I will apoligze for my spelling - I can't figure out how to spell check with this email LOL ). I am coming back from the fractured tibia and an awful weight gain - seems I stopped running, but not eating! LOL The best thing about today's run for me was that you all made me feel more determined to drop the extra pounds and to be able to get my speed (speed - me??? well, my relative speed) back to where it was 5 months ago.
I was so greatful this morning when Morgan told me at the 3 mile mark that this was a hilly run. It felt hilly to me, but coming from Richmond, everything around here is hilly! LOL I thought Garner (sp ?) IE the last mile would kill me. But, now I have a challege - to be able to make it up it without walking.
I accept that I probably will never be as fast as those of you at the front, but I do enjoy "chasing" after you. I know if I hang in there that I will get better - so thank you again for inspiring me!
Morgan, when do you decide what routes you will run? On these longer runs, if I know what direction you are going out ahead of time, I can start out 5 mins or so ahead of the group and you will catch me about mile 2 or 3 - that will give me time to really warm up my legs and then I will be able to do the core part of the run with the group.
I am hoping to be out there again tomorrow for your 3 or 4 mile run!
Im new to the area I know where Tudek Park is - how
about if we start there at 7:30? I dont know the
routes but I have an idea and I have Garmin.

Just wanted to let you all know that registration for the New York
City Marathon began this week. The application is avaliable at

I'm definetly running nyc and wondered if anyone else was interested in
getting in the lottery for it. Registration ends on May 1. Then NYRR

the "guarenteed entry" nyrr members accept their bids. Let me know if
you're considering running it.

tara and I are going cross country skiing around the psu golf course on saturday at 2 p.m. feel free to join us if you'd like...appalachian outdoors rents skis for a very reasonable fee if you are interested but don't have skis...
we will park/meet in the lot next to the EES building (which is
next to the IST building) right next to the golf course (it's the lot
across from rec hall, and I drive straight as far as possible until I
get to the golf course and park - but I don't go back to where the
apartments are).
Hello ladies,
Just wanted to let you know the run starts at Tudek Park at 7:30am
tomorrow. I am planning on a 10-12 miler. You can check out the
first loop on "map my run" at this link:
www.mapmyrun.com/route/united-states/pa/state-college/247245798
The second loop may be the same plus a little more, or one of the
others.
I also recently mapped out many of our runs that start and end at the
creamery. These are a little more confusing on the map because they
include trails and bike paths, but you can check them out, and some
other ones that take into consideration snowy/dark conditions if you
click on "more runs by this user"
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
Morgan, Will you be at Tudek park again on Saturday?
I enjoyed last week's run.
Thanks, Mary Kathryn

Hey Beth!
I was planning on going to rec hall if no one was running outside
tomorrow. I was there this morning but I find it so boring to run by
myself in that place. See you tomorrow!

I have some xc skis in my attic that I've been thinking about dusting off, so if you don't mind a really slow and clumsy ski partner, I'd be game this weekend. But if you want to really ski, I totally understand and am not offended!
is anyone planning on running in rec hall at 6 a.m. tomorrow? and...anyone interested in cross country skiing this weekend for a little cross training?

Hi ladies,
It's supposed to be pretty nasty tomorrow morning. While I like to
think of myself as hard core, I think I am going to pass on the 6am run
in the sub 0 windchill and opt for the noon track workout at the indoor
track on campus, instead.
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
Hello ladies,
Just found out that school is cancelled tomorrow and in light of the
weather forecast, I am going to take this rare opportunity to not set
my alarm for tomorrow morning, and hopefully sleep in!
I hope you all enjoy our winter wonderland and I hope it doesn't turn
into an icy nightmare!
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
Hi, I'm looking for a warm, very warm pair of running pants. I wear CW-
X running pants to help prevent overuse issues, but I need something
to wear over them on these cold days. I am lookinug at some by Gore
Tex - National Running Center has them, and a shop in Mifflinburg also
carries Gore Tex running pants. I am wondering what others are using
in these wicked cold days? Has anyone tried any of the gore tex ones?
What did you think of them?
Thank you,
Grace
Hey Ladies
I promise I'm not trying to nag. Just wanted to let you know that
there are still openings for all three nights of the valentines party.
Tomorrow (Saturday) night we will be serving CiCi's pizza, chips,
fruit, and sugar cookies. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the same, but
with Papa John's pizza. So if you want to get out of the house, or you
just don't want to cook dinner for your kids, send them on over. I
have lots of volunteer babysitters helping me, so there will be ample
supervision. Thanks and see you soon.
Rebecca
Tudek Park is located along North Atherton St. If you are coming from downtown State College, you turn left onto Blue Course, (like you are going to Giant) then take the first right onto Martin. Follow it up past the apartments, then take the first left onto Herman Drive (the C5, or North Club, whatever it is called now is right there) then follow the drive all the way back until you see the parking lot.
If you are coming from the other direction, From North Atherton St, turn right at the Red Lobster and follow that past the back of Best Buy. Go straight at the light, then turn right onto Herman Drive.
Let me know if this is not clear--hope you can make it.
Hi,
Could you please tell me where Tudek Park is?
Thanks,
Grace

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that Rebecca and I are planning to start a
long run on Saturday at 7am. We will be hooking up with the rest of
the Team in Training crew for a run at 8am. So...you can come at 7 or
8 and run with us!
We are meeting at Tudek park.
Hope to run with you soon,

Hi Beth!
I was planning on running outside with the group tomorrow morning but
if it's terribly cold I may just stay in rec hall. Oh, I think
Morgan did say she would be running Thursday but I haven't heard from
her. I hope to see you tomorrow!
Kristy :)

Hi Ladies!
I have decided to take a little break from my New York City races for a
while. However there are a couple races that I'm already signed up for
and I wanted to offer my entry to you guys. There is a "Snowflake 4
mile race" in Central Park on Saturday Feb. 24. It's already paid
for. All you have to do is pick up your racing number and shirt at New
York Road Runner's on East 89th Street (Take the 4, 5, or 6 train to
86th street...EASY!!!). Please let me know if you are interested.
Have a wonderful day!!! :) Bundle up if you go for a run...it's
FREEZING out there!!!
Hugs,
Kristy
Hi everyone,
We are so thrilled to have Rebecca be part of Team in Training, and
are enjoying supporting her in her training for the Country Music
Marathon!
We do not have a TnT group run scheduled this weekend, but Rebecca
and I are planning to run at 7:30am on Saturday morning. We will be
doing around 12-13 miles and you are all welcome to join in and do
some, all, or more of the mileage!
Let's meet at the "old" Creamery and go from there. I will try to
get a map together ahead of time and send out the link so you can see
where we are going.
Also, while I think of it--I will miss you all on Mon-Wed of next
week as I will be out of town. However, we have so many "regulars"
now, that I am confident you will have someone to run with if you
come any of those days. Dress warm, though, as the forecast says it
will be frigid!
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
