I would be remiss if i didn't shout out a Semper Fidelis on today--234th Birthday of the United States Marine Corps!  Also, my Avocado friend  Bernie, who many of you met at Morgan's sent the following E-mail.  My 5th grade teacher made us memorize In Flanders Field and though i hadn't thought of it in years it brought back a flood of memories, and is very meaningful.. thanks for listening...

   I am currently in Ottawa, ON Canada.  They are celebrating Rememberance Day which coincides with our Veterans Day with the exception this country gives it the respect this day deserves.  Every business shuts down Nov 11th not just government offices and almost everyone wears poppies on their jackets.   The poppy pins are to commemorate the poem "In Flanders Fields" (see below).
  The USA could learn something from our neighbors to the north (and it is not how to run health care).

Inspiration for the poem — In Flanders Fields

During the Second Battle of Ypres a Canadian artillery officer, Lieutenant Alexis Helmer, was killed on 2 May, 1915 by an exploding shell. He was a friend of the Canadian military doctor Major John McCrae.
John was asked to conduct the burial service owing to the chaplain being called away on duty elsewhere. It is believed that later that evening John began the draft for his famous poem 'In Flanders Fields'.

Maggie, I don't know Jaimie but would be happy to help either with food or baby
holding (which sounds like a HUGE treat to me since my youngest is 9). I am not

child appt. Jaimie is having a tough time! Teresa was wondering if we
could set up some help for her. Maybe someone to go to her house for
2hrs to hold the baby while she sleeps.

Or bring some food over.

Let me know if you can do either & I'll set something up. I'll go over
Wed am. & bring food. Can anyone do Tuesday - any 1-2hr window?

Jaimie's mother in law is coming next week, so it's just this week -
