Hi everyone,
I thought I would take this opportunity to tell everyone about this group, since
some questions have come up recently. We have had quite a lot of new people
join in this yahoo group forum over the last few months and I want to welcome
you all, and fill you in.
We meet at the "Old Creamery" (which I realize doesn't mean much to people who
just moved here, but it explains the name) at the corner of Shortlidge and
Curtin roads on campus. There is a parking lot there that is adjacent to the
Pavilion Theatre, and that is where we convene.
We meet at 6am on weekday mornings and start our run at about 6:05. There are
many "regulars" and there are many ladies who just come when they can. We
typically run about 3-6 miles but never venture too far away from "home" so it
is easy to cut runs short or add on.
We run all over campus, town, and outlying areas, and try to stick to bike
paths, trails, and low traffic streets. Although, on the weekend, there may be
trail runs outside of town.
We average about a 9 minute/mile pace with a range of 8:30-9:30. There is a
range of paces within the group and almost always, someone is willing to run
faster or slower. We like to make sure everyone has someone to run with.
We also have a wide range of ages, experience running, and we come from various
backgrounds. We are married, single, in our 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's,
stay-at-home moms, doctors and pa's, grad students, teachers, university
employees, etc. We have kids, young and grown, or no kids, and we have pets.
In other words, you will fit in with our group as long as you are a woman and
you run. We welcome everyone and encourage people to come whenever they can.
We are happy to see the faces we see every day, the faces we haven't seen in a
while, and the new faces. To all of you, please come join us whenever you can!
Hope to run with you soon,
Morgan
