I am in need of a male player for a grass triples tournament in Fuquay
this Sat. Snacks and beverages are provided at tournament. The team fee
is covered. Since I anticipated the B division being recreational, I
have signed up for the A division.
Any gold males looking to play this Sat. ?

Subject: A trip to the free clinic?

No, not that kind of clinic.

Recently, Vaughn heard from a few people asking if he knew anyone that
would be willing to put on a volleyball skills clinic. Since all the
actual talented players turned him down, he had to put some members of
the vh1vball.com staff to work. Haven't you ever wondered how Jef
Lamoreaux hits his annoyingly short roll shot? Or how Troy Plavec can
2-ball instead of setting his partner and still sleep soundly at night?
Or how Barry Huie's therapy is going after having pictures taken while
lying on the ground cramping as someone was posing over his helpless
body? Well, probably not the last one.

We're thinking of holding it sometime in early July about a week
before the next K&Q, probably on July 10th. As far as skill level, it
will be geared to the low-silver/bronze crowd, but anyone is welcome
and there's no charge. It'll just be a couple hours some afternoon
where you can come by, do some drills, and maybe get someone to help with that
pesky passing problem.

Right now I'm just trying to see how many people would come to
something like this. If you're interested in attending (or even
better, helping out), send me email and let me know.

A couple people I know are trying to start a poker night and I thought
I'd extend the invitation out to people in the K&Q group.

It will be held Thursday nights in the Cary/Morrisville/Brier Creek
area. The game will probably be 2/4 Limit Texas Hold-Em, but that's
still under debate. Please note that this is definitely geared toward
more experienced players, so it's not the best place to learn if
you're still figuring out how to play. :) It's still just meant to
be a friendly weekly game though.

Send me email if you're interested.

am asking $450 for this beautiful 6ft bar pool table could be yours.
Wouldn't it be great to entertain with friends and play pool right at home?
This table comes with cues, balls, and rack. The table is in great
condition, it has been well taken care of. This is for a limited time only,
my move is scheduled for June 14th and it will come with me.

Buyer needs to provide shipping to destination. Call me if you have any

June Joust is less than 2 weeks away! Make sure you
call or email with your registration before tournament
day to avoid $10 day off sign-up fee! Remember that
this is a non-profit tournament, so all money coming
in, is going back out! If we have enough teams signup
as co-ed, we will have a co-ed division, so note on
your registration along with what level of Men's you
want to play if you don't want to play co-ed or if
there aren't enough teams.

Thanks

Happy Monday!

I just wanted to send out a couple of quick items about the tourney this week-end:

- We're working on another round of vh1vball.com shirts and possibly tank tops. If response is good, we hope to allow you to order the color you want. We'll post the new design on the website later this week.

- Only the people who have paid by Friday night will be eligible for the door prize. The website has been modified so you can go back and use paypal for your entry after the fact.

- Remember that check in starts at 8:30 and play will begin shortly after 9:00 Try to keep your warm up times to under an hour or we'll have to break out the egg timers to keep things moving!

- We will be having the Friday night get together at Buffalo Brothers again: 10% off your food bill between 7-9 They also have the $2 Yuengling pints and $3 well drinks all night long. You don't have to be playing Saturday to come out and take advantage of this great deal!

- I'm also in the process of organizing a post-tourney get together at Rum Runners, in City Market. Working with them to get food and/or drink specials for Saturday night. Soiunds like they're really excited about the possibility of some volleyball hooligans invading their bar. I should know more about that by the week-end...again, you don't have to play to come out and party

hope everyone has a great day and remember to not eat the yellow snow!

I'm looking for a female partner for this weekend's King/Queen
tourney, bronze level. Doesn't look like Lacy's had any success --
but I figured it can't hurt to try.

Really like to play, but it isn't looking promising. :( I'd pay now
and play silver to snag a partner for sure, but
a) I'll get creamed in bronze anyway, and
b) unfortunately, I've never played two's other than in a single
pickup game or two, so my partner would kill me if shame didn't

Come on ... no takers and I'll have to put on a tankini and wig and
see if Lacy will play with me.

(How does it work ... if I pay online for the weekend now, but don't
find a partner ... will I get refunded morning of?)

happy Thursday!

Before I forget, if you're already on our King & Queen email list (if you're not, you should be) and you're getting this message twice, let me know so I can correct it. I know my emails are thrilling, but probably not that thrilling

Friday Night
We'll be having the usual pre-tourney get together Friday night at Buffalo Brothers, 3111 Capital Blvd. They're giving us 10% off our food bill and they also have $2 Yuengling pints and $3 well liquor drinks all night long. The numbers have been increasing, let's try to keep that trend going. You don't have to be playing Saturday to come out Friday night to socialize!

vh1vball.com tee shirts
Be sure to check out the new shirt design on vh1vball.com and see what you think. We're hoping to be able to customize them for everybody if the response is good. We're planning to offer a choice of t's and tanks and then let you choose the color of the shirt as well as the colors of the design. It would be limited but you would still have several choices. Feel free to send us any feedback/ideas.

Tourney news
Remember that check-in starts at 8:30. Get there and get checked in so we can get the ball bouncing. We'll be instituting the Rip Van Winkle award again this tourney for the last person to arrive. This means scorn and public ridicule.

There are only a few spots for females left in Silver! If you're planning to play, get those entries in. We've got several guys hoping to play so c'mon out ladies. There's a chance we would raise the team limit in Silver to 32 teams but we'll have to see what happens.

We do have room in Bronze for several more teams.

If you're a stag Silver guy, come out Saturday morning by 8:30 and you may be able to grab a spot if we have any no shows.

Please keep things moving in pool play, or else. Keep the warm up times to a minumum. Marie, this means you  The faster we get through pool play, the longer the playoff games can last. Rally to 5 points could be a distinct possibility if pool play takes too long.

I'm still working with the guy from Rum Runners about a post tourney get together and I hope to have details shortly. If we can't get anything co-ordinated this week-end, we should be able to in the future. He said he was excited about having us there...

Remember to get your entry fees in by 9:00 Friday night if you want to be eligible for the door prize which will be worth at least $20

have a great day!

is anyone else glad it's Friday?!?!?

I'm leaving work around noon today so get all your complaints in a.s.a.p.

here's what I have:

Gold & Silver
- with the way the numbers are right now, we're going to have to move one team from Gold to Silver (that is unless we get 3 more Gold teams AND 1 more Silver team) otherwise, 2 people will have to move. I'll take volunteers or if no one steps up, we'll resort to the points standings. (Everyone did see the note on the info page about people being subject to getting moved around as numbers dictate, right? this looks like one of those cases)

We have to have a number of pools that is divisible by 4 or 5 in EVERY division. 21 in Gold and 29 in Silver won't work. Hence the necessity to move a team.

Bronze
We've got several guys waiting to play Bronze so if any of you ladies wanna give it a try, please sign up. * We'll need 3 girls before we can accept more guys. We don't have pool sheets for 6 or 7 teams. I know, it stinks.

Registration
Thanks to everyone who has already paid your entry fees, that will help move things along tomorrow morning. You're also eligible for a door prize that will be worth at least $20.

Be sure to check in with us as soon as you get there, even if you have paid. We'll be set up near the fence. We can't start until we know everyone is there. (Side note - the pools will be done by the time you get there so we're just waiting on you. yes, you)

Hammock up!
It's not 100% set in stone but I've talked with a friend from the nearby Fire Department and they're planning to swing by in the afternoon to run the hoses for us again like they did last year. You may wanna wear something appropriate or bring a towel and/or change of clothes just in case. Hopefully the local arsonists will take the day off and the sick people won't call 9-1-1.

hope to see you at Buffalo Brothers tonight!

Have a great day and remember, after noon-ish, I'll be away from email for most of the afternoon so I won't get right back with you

cheers!

vaughn

Hope everyone had a good time at the tourney yesterday, we couldn't have asked for much better weather. If the darned Fire Department would have come out to run the hoses, the day woulda been complete. Maybe next time...

Shame, Shame, Shame
We've been slack about mentioning it, but remember to follow courtesy rules when we're playing. Guys, there's no need to serve the girls a majority of the time. I saw several instances of guys serving the women an unfair % of the time. If you guys don't clean this up yourselves, we'll have to institute a 'real' rule to stop it. Or maybe a wall of shame for the guilty parties. Thanks for your co-operation.

T-shirts
Get in touch with me if you're interested in the new shirts we're working on. If there's enough interest, we'll be looking at ways for you to choose  your shirt color and design colors as well.

Winners

Here are our winners from yesterday:

- The door prize for pre-payers, a $25 gift certificate to Buffalo Brothers, went to Staci Rogers.

- The Rip Van Winkle award for the last arriver, went to Jen Hazelett. A $5 gift card to Starbucks was given to our first arriver, Jennifer Dennis in Jen's honor. Nice going ladies :-)

The division winners were:

Gold
King - Oguz Degirmenci
Queen - Jenn Hazelett
Prince - Tim Dudley
Princess - Missy Will

Silver
King - Scott Dickinson
Queen - Lois Magee
Prince - Lewis Cagle
Princess - Karen Fitzsimmons

Bronze
King - Doug Braswell
Queen - Julia Seidel
Prince - Wilder Lafond
Princess - Heather Knott

Hopefully all you newcomers enjoyed yourselves and will wanna come back.

Just a reminder that June Joust 2-person volleyball tournaments make
their return this coming weekend. The popular tournament of the late
1990's is back! We hope to build this event into one of the largest
tournaments on the East Coast again. In its last year in the 90's, we
hosted over 200 teams on over 40 nets, with vendors the likes of
Champion, Adidas, Sports Performance Centers of America, Budweiser,
Redsand Volleyball Clothing and Pepsi.

This year, we hope to have sponsors present during the event, as we
offer men's, women's and junior divisions. We will offer Open, A and B
divisions. Cash prizes will be awarded to Open and prizes will be
given for the other divisions. Sign up today. Limited space is

A Father’s Day Special?

Since the King and Queen was coming up before Father’s

creation. Then when I added the memory of how bad I
am, genius struck. I should make a robot!

Yes, while the rest of you were suffering through the
heat, humidity and muddy courts, I was home relaxing.
Oh sure, many of you thought you saw me there, but
that was actually my “son”, Robotic Clay. For the
astute, you may wonder why I wouldn’t build Robotic
Clay to be a bit taller (I mean, seriously). The bane
of all projects – budget cuts.

But I was able to give Robotic Clay special features
such as ‘heat resistance’, quick legs, no fear, and
removed his ability to feel pain (this comes in handy
when you combine effort and stupidity). Thus, even
against budget cuts and better players, Robotic Clay
didn’t do too bad. Of course in the end the answer
isn’t effort, but skill. Robotic Clay needs to
practice.

Of course, robots are not light. Robotic Clay has a
noticeable “pouch” these days. This is where he
carries all the servo motors – he is not fat! And at
the end of the day I asked my new son how things went.
To which he replied, “000100 %#$& 011100100
0100100101010.” Which roughly translates as “holy %#$&
was it hot.”

That kind of talk gets a kid a spanking. Anyway, he
also said he had a great time and his net was clearly
superior and filled with more “001011100”, though I
don’t know what that meant. Thanks to Lois, Jae,
Dasha, Emily, Jessica, Brian M, Jeff, Taylor and Chris
L for playing with a robot and for having fun all day.
Thanks to Vaughn for having everything ready to go
early.

Hopefully I’ll be out there in person next time,
Clay “I would make a lousy Dr Frankenstein” Berry

One more day to the big event! I know you're tired of
seeing these emails, and I'm tired of sending them,
but last one before June Joust! Just an update as to
what all has happened.

Men's AA has 10 teams pre-registered! Men's AA will
pay out between $500-$800 for 1st place! We'd like to
set up 4 nets for Men's AA, so get your registration
in!

Women's AA has 6 teams pre-registered! Women's AA
will pay out at least $250 for 1st place! Come on
ladies, get your registration in!

The more teams we have, the more money will be paid
out, so encourage those others to sign up!

Other divisions offered are Men's/Women's A, BB,
Co-ed, Juniors.

We have so far 8 teams signed up for Juniors, so there
will be a lot of good competition. If you have other
Juniors interested in playing, please let us know!

Get your registration in today, to avoid the $10 late
sign-up fee on Sat. Remember that this is a
non-profit
tournament!

Registration ends at 8:45, so get there early to get
your grab bag! The sooner you get there, the sooner
we get started! If you are not a USAV member, you
will need to fill out a form.

Hey all
I'm sending out one of those desperate e-mails looking for a partner
for Saturday. I would prefer to play women's but if I have to I will
play co-ed. In advance I just want to say thanks for all those
heckling e-mails I am sure to receive because I am once again
partnerless.

Anybody know of a local dealer for something equivalent to Sand Socks?
The only dealer for Vincere Sand Socks is in Wilmington, but I figure
that there has to be something like them that I can get locally.
8-hour sand tourney starts tomorrow morning ... any last minute help?

Welcome to call if you're bored -- 783-5554, or just reply to the list.

Thanks!
