To my friends and colleagues who are looking for some musical variety to entertain yourselves,

Please save the date, February 21, 2009, at 8:00 p.m.  My singing group, Looney Tunes, will be hosting a show in Raleigh that night.  It is an a cappella experience not to be missed.  Also, it is a family and kid-friendly show, so please feel free to bring one or more of your kids with you as we have discounted, student prices.

More information about Looney Tunes can be found on our website at http://www.looneytunesmusic.org.  Tickets for the show and more information about the other groups performing at our show can be found at http://looneytunesmusic.org/tickets.shtml.  You can purchase advance tickets, for a discount, from this site.  You will need to use Google Checkout (similar to PayPal, and very trustworthy as well).  If you don't want to save $1.50 per ticket by purchasing in advance, you can still purchase tickets at the door for $10 (student) and $12 (adult).

I look forward to seeing you after the show or hearing that you were able to attend!  Let me know if you have any questions.

Hello all,

So if you were actually able to tune into to WKNC radio last weekend, you may
have noticed a predominance of NOTHING BUT STATIC. My apologies for that. The
studio was a dead signal right up to the NC State basketball game, funny how
that happens. ;) We were asked back this weekend, but we are missing too many
folks to perform. However, I will be on the radio this Sunday, 2/15/2009, at
1:00 p.m.. I will be promoting the upcoming show with my fellow group mates,
Corey and Jessica.

I am looking forward to seeing as many of you all as can make it on the big day,
February 21st, at 8:00 p.m. As a reminder, tickets can be bought at the door,
but we would love to count you in early. ;) Details are below if you misplaced
the last email.

Thanks for your support!

and boy do I need a haircut!!! I kinda look like an older Napoleon Dynamite, without the glasses (heck yes i do!)

As most of you have surely heard by now, I'll be participating in the St. Baldrick's charity headshaving event on March 7th at Napper Tandy's here in Raleigh and I'm asking for your support. Both in spirit and dollars  This year I'm shaving my head in support of my friend, Wesley.  Wesley is a college friend's nephew who is 14 years old and is bravely battling Medullablastoma, a form of brain cancer.  Wesley has just started another round of chemo and will be having a stem cell transplant soon. You can see Wesley's picture and read a little more about him on my donation page.

In the last 6 months I've lost a neighbor, a volleyball buddy and a family pet to cancer and I'm getting sick and tired of it so I'm gonna do all I can to fight this crappy disease!

St. Baldrick's helps support childhood cancer research and they are really good about having few administrative costs (i.e. they get a lot of money out for research).  In the past they've sent money everywhere - including to hospitals here in Raleigh and at Duke, in Wake Forest, Roanoke, and Richmond. You can see the full list if you check out their annual report.

Please join me in supporting Wesley in his fight against cancer.  Sadly, cancer is recession-proof so now, more than ever, your donations are needed to help these brave kids battle on.  No matter how small, every little bit helps. We're about 20% to my goal and I really believe we can reach it! After all, who doesn't love helping kids and hate cancer?!?!

Here's the donation page and thanks in advance for your support!

ps. for all you fans of our tourneys, won't you consider donating the cost of a single tourney entry? it could gain you favor when we're making pools...

Our Men's team is looking for an OH that can pass nails.  We are planning to go to Nationals this year as we have in the past few years, but our OH just had knee surgery and is out for the remainder of the season.  This person will be a vitale member of our team and will receive a lot of playing time.  If you are interested or know anyone who is please let me know.  If you've never been to Nationals, it is an incredible experience and we have a great time.  We'll be playing Men's A, which is the 4 days on Memorial Day weekend, Sat - Tue.  The Men's Open plays at the same time as us.  Nationals are in Minneapolis, MN this year.  Please email me if you are interested:  stephen.shepherd@...

and you can see how badly I need a haircut. It actually looks worse in real life if you can believe it. I'll be seeing if blondes do have more fun in the next couple of days before turning it green for Saturday.

Thanks again to everyone who has already donated and if you haven't, please consider making a donation, no matter how small. Like I mentioned last time, the economy stinks right now but unfortunately cancer is recession proof. Every donation will help. Even if you haven't been directly affected by childhood cancer, you've probably known someone who's faced this terrible disease and the research they're doing could help wipe it out!

I'm signed up to get shorn between 6:30 and 8:00 this Saturday at napper Tandy's so c'mon out and enjoy the fun. I hear rumors of a Rock Band night afterwards at the casa de Hastings, you definitely don't wanna miss that!

Don't worry, this is the last time I'll be harassing you about the St. Baldrick's charity headshaving event, for this year anyway. I know some of you have gotten this from several different sources but that's just 'cause you're all that important to me.

Thanks to everyone who has already donated and if you haven't won't you please consider making a donation? Every donation will help. I know the economy stinks like a month old fish but like I've mentioned, unfortunately cancer is receesion proof. I sure do love helping kids and I hate cancer!

I'm signed up to get shorn between 7:30 and 8:00pm tomorrow at Napper Tandy's here in downtown Raleigh so c'mon out and enjoy the fun. As an added bonus, we're having people over to the house afterwards for a night of Rock Band fun. Feel free to swing by, even if you can't make it for the actual headshaving. Lemme know if you need my address.

For those of you who've been asking about this summer's tourney schedule, we'll get that posted soon. In the meantime, you can always pretend that you're entering a tourney and donate that money to St. Baldrick's. It might even help when you ask to be in this pool or that pool when tourney season rolls around

Thanks again and enjoy the great weather this week-end!

Vaughn

ps. On a happy note, Wesley had his stem cell transplant this week and that went pretty well. He's been having a few problems (nothing serious, thankfully) since the procedure but they're hoping he's gonna rebound quickly.
