Hello Everyone,

I'm under the impression that most all people on this list are highly
competitive pllayers, but this may be of more interest to the Silver
and Bronze level players out there.

I'm running an indoor league that plays Wednesday nights in Raleigh,
with the TRI SPORTS Social Club. Courts are located off Glenwood,
near Oberlin.

Details on the league are at: http://trissc.com/volleyball.asp

We've got openings for players and teams to add to the league,
starting this coming Wednesday. The league emphasizes social rather
than cut-throat competitive practices, but it's by no means "monkey
slap ball". I'd say it centers between the silver and bronze levels
of Vaughn's tournaments, with outliers on each side.

It's a lot of fun and another chance to get out to stretch the legs.
Please let me know if you have any Qs.

tab2379
Send Email Send Email

Hello everyone. This is Tabitha Wilcox again just wanting to say
thank you to those who have responded so far to the previous email
about the indoor tourney. I also wanted to clarify a few things that
that I have gotten questions about.

***Signing up by yourself is $10.00 or $30.00 as a team if you
register by Feb. 27th at 5pm. If you register by yourself anytime
after that there won't be any guarantee that we can find you a team,
but it would be $15.00 and $40.00 as a team.

***As far as the level of competition, we are letting anyone over the
age of 18 participate, so I guess you can call this an open
tournament. We won't break into groups this time, but if we have a
good response to this tournament and feel the need to break up into
categories, then we will in the future.

***Now about the food questions--it has come to our attention that
some of you are concerned with the fact that you cannot bring your
own coolers and that we are only selling pizza, hotdogs, etc at our
concession stand. Dominoes has offered to sponsor the event this
time, maybe in the future we can get Subway, Jersey Mike's, etc. to
sponsor it, but being that this is the first time we have held this
particular event, we didn't get a great response for the help we
needed. If you need to find food sources other than what we have at
our concession stand, there are restaurants within a three mile
radius of the campus and there is a Foodlion across the street as
well.

Sorry, if this is an inconvenience to anyone. I still hope to see
some of you on March 1st.

Keep the responses coming and I will get back to you as fast as I
can.

Thanks,
Tabitha

To Whom It May Concern:

We will be having only one gym available at Bond Park Community Center next
Monday, Feb. 24th because there will be make up b-ball games from the ice
storm. We will have to limit the number of non-residents of Cary to the
first 24 people that come in the door, after that, only residents will be
admitted.

Also, we will be going back to one gym on Monday's when the Cary volleyball
leagues start back up in March. So starting March 24th, we will be going
back to 1 gym and just like this coming Monday, limiting non-residents to
the first 24 people through the door, after that, only residents will be
admitted for the rest of the evening. Remember to bring a current picture
I.D. with your address on it if it is your first time to open gym, we will
make a copy and keep on file.

If you know of someone that comes on Mondays that is not on this list, I
would appreciate it if you would forward this message on to them as well,
thanks!

Hey all!

I was trying to get a team together for Ashville but my schedule is
making that very difficult. If anyone is interested, I'm a setter
and I'd like to go set for someone. I'd like to play BB(the second
level up i believe), but will consider other options (ie. B or A).

I'll run a 5-1 or a 6-2, whatever fits.

If you're interested, email me and we'll talk.

thanks!

Subject: Great news from Pyramids Sportscenter
spikemanln
Send Email Send Email

It is rare that good news is abundant these days. But here goes:

- First of all, Pyramids Sportscenter has been acquired by the city of
Greensboro and has been renamed. The new name is the Greensboro Sportsplex.
Everything I have seen from the city has been positive to date:
     More staff
Sufficient money for supply and equipment needs
City employees for upfit and improvements
Sufficient cleaning staff to keep the building neat.
Recognition of what has been successful to date.

- This brings me to the next bit of good news (or at least I hope you will
think so.) As of March 15, I will be going fulltime with the city and I
will be the Volleyball/Basketball Coordinator at the Greensboro Sportsplex.
The city has made it quite clear that I have the freedom to program as I see
fit to use the space to its maximum potential. I sincerely want to see
basketball and volleyball succeed in our facility and I think there is room
for that to happen. But I also can tell you that considering basketball is
offered throughout our city and this is the only location volleyball is
offered, my priority will be to ensure volleyball has a home long into the
future in Greensboro.

- New Leagues - We will beginning new leagues next week - March 1. Get
your teams entered ASAP. There is a sign up board at the facility or you
can email me directly to have me add your team. We will be offering leagues
on the following schedule.
     Monday nights - Coed 6's League (A and B)
     Tuesday night - Men's 6's League
     Thursday night - Women's 6's League

- Exciting Events Upcoming:

€ Coach's Clinic - Shelton Collier from Wingate College will be conducting
a coach's clinic at the facility on March 16. The clinic will be held from
1 pm - 6 pm. To get more info on this clinic or to register, call Lane at
the Sportsplex at 336-230-2220, or on my cell at 336-253-2204.

€ Parents and Players Scholarship Session - Shelton Collier will be hosting
a session following the coach's clinic, instructing parents, coaches and
players on how to secure volleyball scholarships at the college level.

€ Dig for Kids Clinic - Greensboro is proud to host Olympic Gold Medalist
Eric Fonoi and Hermosa Beach Open Champion Albert Hanneman May 10-11. They
will be holding a clinic both days with sessions for kids and adults and we
hope to include a social event on Saturday evening. This event is to serve
as a fundraiser for their organization, Dig for Kids, which does great work
in the inner city areas of our country working with underprivileged and
troubled youth. We are still finalizing our details but watch for more
information. We are currently seeking sponsorships for this event. If you,
your company or someone you know might be interested in sponsoring this
event, please contact Lane at 336-253-2204.

€ Summer Camps - We have 3 camps scheduled currently. Chuck McCracken will
be holding 2 Quest 4 Excellence camps this summer and we hope one will
include a professional player. Watch for details on these camps to be
announced soon. In addition, the Wake Forest coaching staff and players
will be hosting a June camp for anyone interested. We are also still
working out details on this camp.

- Sponsorships - The city has given me the go ahead to secure sponsorships
at various levels for events, tournament and even the facility itself. We
are looking for a $1 million plus facility name sponsor. We also have
sponsorship levels from $10,000 down to $500 if you, your business or anyone
you know might be interested. If interested in sponsoring events,
tournaments, teams or the facility, I feel we have established a good
promotions pack for all levels of sponsorship and would be glad to discuss
with you at your earliest convenience. Our most pressing events seeking
sponsorships include:
€ Dig for Kids Professional Player Clinic
€ USAV Regionals for Adults on March 30, 31
€ Junior Olympics Regionals beginning mid-March through mid-April
€ Hi Neighbor Overflow Tournament on April 5-6

I look forward to seeing all of you in the near future and I am great at
accepting constructive criticism. Please feel free to send me your ideas,
suggestions, and comments. And feel free to suggest any programming you
would like to see included going forward.

Thanks for your time!!

hi all,

with the warmer weather on the way, that means at least one thing...time for outdoor season! thank goodness!

i'm planning to start up this years king & queen tourneys on April 12th and the 2003 schedule will be posted soon. no changes. it's gonna be the same thing again this year, the second saturday in a month, after the greensboro tourneys on the first saturdays...

this is where you can help: if anyone knows of a place we could have the tourneys, and avoid using Eastgate Park again this season, let me know. It looks promising that we can get back out to Blue Jay point, but not until June. I've been checking all sorts of places in the Raleigh/Cary area but soccer has a strangle hold on open spaces...

if you can think of any places, check them out and let me know...thanks in advance!

hope to see you all soon,

On May 10 and 11, we will have our opportunity to host a clinic with 2
of the world's top volleyball players.

Olympic Gold Medalist Eric Fonoimoana and 2002 Hermosa Beach Open
Champion Albert Hannemann, will be coming to the Greensboro Sportsplex
(previously Pyramids Sportscenter) in Northeastern Greensboro. Eric
and Al-b will be offering 3 clinics and we are limited to 50
participants per clinic. The clinic schedule will be as follows:
      Saturday morning (9am-12pm) - 15 and under
      Saturday afternoon (1-4pm) - 16 to 18
      Sunday morning (9am-12pm) - Adults

We are now accepting reservations for this event and will be accepting
the first 50 paid participants in each age group. The cost for the
event is a $40 tax-deductible contribution to Dig 4 Kids, an
organization started by these two players which works with inner city
youth across this great nation. Your entire contribution will be made
to their organization and each participant will be receiving a t-shirt,
and a chance to touch an Olympic Gold medal. Make checks payable to
Dig For Kids.

The clinics will be hands on and taught by these two outstanding
athletes. All skill levels are welcome. Due to the small number of
actual participants we can accept, we are going to also offer
spectators a chance to watch these clinics and meet Al-B and Eric. All
we ask that each spectator contribute a $5 tax-deductible contribution
to the organization. This will allow a larger number of us to meet the
guys and experience this fun event.

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying the lovely Spring temps today!

I got a call from the Program Director at our local YMCA today, who is starting up a Spring/Summer vball league in their new gym (2 nets to be set up). This is a co-ed, 6 person, indoor league that starts May 1 and is played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, in the evenings. Registration starts this Friday, April 4, 2003, until April 23, 2003, and cost per person is $25 if you are a Y member (of ANY YMCA), or $40 if you are not a member of any YMCA. The league will last until about mid-June, depending on the number of teams that sign up. There will be a tourney at the end of the league for season champions.

Teams are welcome to sign up, as well as individual players looking for a team to play on. Currently, Maria is opening the level of play at Recreational or Advanced. If you are interested, please call Maria Hardisty at 252-438-2144 to register. The Y is located in Henderson, NC, about 40 minutes north of Raleigh and is easy to find.
