Hi, John,
There are so many ways to reach the Hollywood sign that I can't give
accurate figures.
On the ride I reported on, it was about 7 miles from Hollywood and
Vine to the top of the sign. Total elevation was probably about 1500
feet (exploring some side streets gained me several hundred more
feet). However, the grade varies considerably, with some steep - 15% -
sections, alternating with reasonably flat areas.
In general, there are no easy grades in the Hollywood Hills,
particularly those streets beneath the Hollywood sign, which is, I
suppose, why I probably rarely see other cyclists there.
