Dolomites

Hello, I wonder if any of you would happen to have ridden over a
circular route near Cortina d'Ampezzo: it includes Val di Fanes, Rif.
Fanes, rif. Pederü, rif. Sennes, cast. San Uberto, then back to
Cortina. Any idea on the condition of the road, whether it is surfaced
or not, and so on.

I spent the week after Easter in Bozen. In case you are interested,
there is a fairly unknown road which starts just outside the town, and
climbs up through Sankt Magdalena, long stretches above 20%. A short
stretch was unsurfaced and unrideale higher up, before a flatter road
continued up to Mariä Himmelfahrt and Oberbozen.
The first two kilometres gained close to 400 metres...
A few days before I attempted the infamous Alte Jenesier Strasse
nearby. While I finally got to Jenesien, subsequent repairs to the
bike cost a small fortune (I had fallen off trying to remount on the
steep first section). The Rafensteiner I had a look at, but it just
does not seem feasable; would have had a go but for all the gravel,
soil, and leaves on the road...
As for the area around Bozen, can only recommend it: cycling for
absolutely all tastes and levels.
I will be at the Dolomite Marathon for the first time on July 2; would
be most happy to make any of your acquaintances if you are there.
Regards Michael
