Out the house 6:30 to 6:50 (mostly!), and in the office door at 8:50.
After work, I'm just limited by weather, battery life (both real,
electric battery for the lighting system, and my own internal energy
supply), and spousal tolerance!
Goals this year are the hilly time trials round the Midlands and Peak
District. Got to do a bit of truck-chasing (flat time trials) on 2 lane
highways though to keep the entry times current :-(
The governing body of time trialling in this country has entry forms in
which you specify your best performances at the standard distances (10,
25, 50, 100 miles) for teh last three seasons. Selection for entry into
events is given to the fastest entrants.
Hence the time trialling scene over here is packed with obsessive time
chasers only willing to ride on ultra-flat, traffic-assisted courses.
They do anything to get a good "time", that's all that counts to them,
not the challenge of riding hard. They'll drive 200 miles to ride on a
"good" course!
You could get into a hilly time trial with a 25 time of 90 minutes
though. People just won't do them! Saddoes!
