Karol,
There are plenty of excellent lower elevation climbs
here in Colorado as well. They are low enough that
acclimatization should not be an issue. There are many
in the Front Range that start at 5200' and go up
around 9000'. You could do them safely within a couple
of days. Come and out and enjoy the fun!
You could actaully probably safely even do Evans in a
week or so depending upon how your body adjusted to
the altitude since you really would not be spending
alot of time, relatively speaking, over 10,000 feet.
The main thing is to stay hydrated. One thing about
Evans that you really need to watch is the descent. I
know several of people that have been hit by cars
passing in blind corners and hitting them. I was even
thinking of getting a ride down at least the top
section when I do it this summer to avoid the
"tourons".
