SPORTS PERFORMER UPDATE

The SPORTS PERFORMER staff received positive response from the
presentations held at ARL headquarters, St Marys and West Newcastle
over the weekend.

French Rugby League representatives in Australia for the meeting of
key Rugby League Nations on the Gold Coast on Sunday, attended the
SPORTS PERFORMER presentation in Sydney on Friday morning.

They were impressed with the functions of SPORTS PERFORMER and the
analysis system. Software was delivered to them on Sunday at the
Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast, whilst they were in attendance at the
League Nations conference, for them to take back to France this week.

After a presentation at the West Newcastle Leagues club on Saturday
premiership winning coach Tony Price accepted SPORTS PERFORMER
software to analyse the team and the opposition teams as Wests move
towards the Finals Series.

Roosters sound warning

EVERYONE get ready. Store your ice packs, pack the headache tablets.
Stack up on so many bandages people will think you've escaped from
the crypt.

The Roosters stamped their territory yesterday. The charts have been
checked and the forecast is pain.

It is six weeks to the finals and the Roosters' performance will have
opposition coaches shaking from their clip-on ties down. Their pay-
packets just got a little harder to earn.

Last year they had an alibi claiming the Roosters stole a run on
them by unveiling their dominant defensive game plan six weeks out
from the finals, not giving them time to copy it as they took it all
the way to October's trophy presentation.

But now every club has had the summer and 20 rounds to get it right
before they head into the finals enough time to produce a
performance like the Roosters came up with yesterday.

Yes, six weeks out from the finals.

Later, club great Arthur Beetson described it as close to the best
club performance he'd seen, given the conditions. Given the players
backing up from Friday's game and the players out injured, and what
they did to the Panthers in the first half.

They did it on the back of a possession rate that saw them complete
22 of 23 sets, but what was intimidating was on the other side.

Joel Clinton, who'd called the Roosters on in the morning papers, was
knocked sideways by Adrian Morley.

The Roosters got so many tacklers in on some hit-ups the Panthers
must have wanted to call the UN.

It just didn't seem fair.

Andy Poynter and Tom O'Reilly scored two tries apiece as Sheffield
Eagles overcame York City Knights in an entertaining National League
Two encounter.

FT: Castleford Tigers 20 Bradford Bulls 40
Second-placed Bradford came from 16-6 down in the first half to
overpower Castleford in a pulsating 40-20 victory at The Jungle.

FT: Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 15 St Helens 36
St Helens were given a real scare by Wakefield before finally
stamping their authority on the game to win 36-15.

FT: Hull Kingston Rovers 36 Whitehaven 10
Hull KR coach Steve Linnane predicted new signing Paul Mansson would
give his side more attacking options and he was proved right as
Rovers beat Whitehaven 36-10.

FT: Salford City Reds 36 Featherstone Rovers 20
Salford gained revenge for their only National League One defeat of
the season with a 36-20 romp over Featherstone.

FT: London Skolars 14 Keighley Cougars 22
London Skolars came desperately close to breaking their professional
duck but eventually fell 22-14 to league-leaders Keighley Cougars.

FT: Dewsbury Rams 26 Oldham Roughyeds 32
National League One's bottom club Dewsbury put up a terrific fight
but couldn't prevent Oldham snatching the points in a pulsating 32-26
win.

FT: Warrington Wolves 66 Halifax 6
Warrington boosted their top-six hopes to pile on the misery for
Tetley's Super League bottom club Halifax with a 66-6 drubbing.

FT: Rochdale Hornets 50 Doncaster Dragons 32
A late and spirited fight back by Doncaster Dragons failed to save
them from defeat at Spotland Stadium as they lost out 50-32 to
Rochdale.

FT: Hunslet Hawks 36 Chorley Lynx 49
Chorley claimed their second big scalp in as many weeks as they
dispatched Hunslet Hawks 49-36.

FT: Swinton Lions 56 Workington Town 12
Swinton made it three wins out of three with a nine-try 56-12 rout of
Workington Town.

FT: Barrow Border Raiders 48 Gateshead Thunder 16
Barrow barely broke into a sweat as they clocked up their fourth win
of the season, beating Gateshead 48-16.

FT: Leigh Centurions 54 Batley Bulldogs 30
Leigh Centurions racked up 10 tries on Tommy Martyn's debut at the
Coliseum to win 54-30 but they were given a real fright by lowly
Batley Bulldogs.

Huddersfield 30 defeated Hull 14

Former Hull favourite Steve McNamara produced a vintage display to
destroy his old club and help Huddersfield maintain their resurgence
with a fifth successive Super League home win.

The 31-year-old McNamara, who spent seven years at his hometown club,
turned down the chance to rejoin them as assistant coach in the
winter and proved he can still perform at the highest level.

He had the decisive hand in two of the Giants' five tries and kicked
five goals from six attempts as Huddersfield added high-flying Hull
to their list of impressive scalps at the McAlpine Stadium this year.

Injury-hit Hull, who were lacking eight regulars, had no answer to
Huddersfield's slick handling and brilliant offloads and posed little
threat in attack as they missed the chance to go third in the table.

The Giants, one-time perennial Super League stragglers, played error-
free rugby to establish a 14-0 half-time lead and built on their fine
work to prove, after their earlier wins over St Helens, Wigan and
Leeds, that they are in the big time to stay.

"Going to training is not enjoyable." - Chris Anderson

"It's not a happy place to go," he said, stern-faced. "Going to
training is not enjoyable.

"There's been no support publicly ... I don't think the club really
have bought into what I'm trying to do. They have to make a decision,
they have to get rid of me or buy into what I'm doing. Where we are
at the moment is bullshit."

The Sharks were to discuss Anderson's future at an August 5 meeting
but he said: "They've got to do it now."

Skipper Brett Kimmorley, sitting alongside Anderson, said the players
had "wasted a lot of nervous energy all week" worrying about the
issue.

"It's the same thing we went through a few years ago at Northern
Eagles," he said of the failed joint venture, where he was the star
recruit. "They [officials] tend to look after their own backs before
they look after us. We're trying to win to save Chris, we're not
trying to win to get enjoyment for ourselves and we're not trying to
win to please the club."

Anderson went on: "I don't want to leave ... but I'm affecting what's
going on because there's no harmony there. There's no feeling of
togetherness, there's no spirit in the joint.

"You're not going to win footy games, even if you are the best side
in the world, if there's no spirit.

"Losing together and winning together is a really important thing. If
they don't want to lose together, then get rid of me and get someone
in there they can work with."

Broncos walk the finals tight rope

In the post-match media conference, Bennett said Parfitt had given
his all, but said that the Broncos had been struggling in the period
before he was replaced.

"It was no place for an 18-year-old," Bennett said. "It wasn't his
fault. He was trying his best."

The Broncos must now walk a tightrope to finish in the top four on
the NRL ladder, with the weekend's results causing them to slip to
fourth after being overtaken by the Roosters on a for-and-against
basis.

The Bulldogs and the Warriors have moved to within two points of
Brisbane, who face playing most of the remaining six competition
rounds without injured stars Lockyer and captain Gorden Tallis.

Warrington 66 defeated Halifax 6

Warrington boosted their top-six hopes to pile on the misery for
Tetley's Super League bottom club Halifax.

The result was never in doubt from the moment Jon Clarke darted over
from dummy half after only 90 seconds.

Warrington led 36-0 at the break with Graham Appo leading the way
with four tries and nine goals.

Bradford 40 defeated Castleford 20

Bradford coach Brian Noble was pleased with the way his team
recovered after finding themselves behind in the first half.

He said: "Once we started winning the ground we were able to march
them up field and we went forward well.

"We could not hang on to the ball in the early stages. We hardly
touched the ball until the 13th minute and then we scored a try."

Bradford took the lead in their first serious attack when Paul Deacon
weaved through for a try he also goalled.

Castleford quickly responded when winger Darren Rogers finished crisp
handling to go over before Michael Eagar claimed a touchdown,
converted by Mitch Healey, while Waine Pryce scored a third try. Orr
added a touchline conversion.

Bradford cut the gap when Leon Pryce scored and they regained the
lead when Lee Radford went in from close range and Deacon kicked.

Bradford stretched their advantage two minutes into the second half
when Scott Naylor burst over before Daniel Gartner also crossed.

Waine Pryce's second try put the Tigers 30-20 behind but their fate
was sealed when Gilmour's 71st-minute try was followed by a late
score from Vaikona. Deacon added his sixth goal.

St Helens 36 defeated Wakefield 15

Tetley's Super League champions St Helens were given a real scare by
a Wakefield side struggling at the foot of the table before finally
stamping their authority on the game late on.

Wakefield's Michael Korkidas was sent off for throwing a punch in the
tackle and Saints had two players sinbinned - Stuart Jones and Tim
Jonkers - for interference at the play the ball in the second half.

That opened the game up and Wakefield pressed hard at St Helens, who
clung on before extending their advantage late in the match.

Wakefield had raced into a 14-0 lead midway through the first half
but St Helens had taken charge by the half-time break.

The home side started like an express train and had St Helens on the
back foot with tries from Ben Jeffries and Jamie Rooney, who
converted both and also kicked a penalty.

DAY SEVEN: WE'RE HALF-WAY THERE

- Stevo and Phil's Rugby League trek

Saturday saw us finish at the birthplace of Rugby League, the George
Hotel in Huddersfield, and we are now around half-way through the
Rugby League Trek.

After leaving Odsal on Saturday morning, we visited Halifax before
moving on to Huddersfield, and it was probably our first day of
climbing, but everyone handled the hills well.

Halifax coach Tony Anderson, and players Paul Davidson and Lee
Finnerty, met us half way from Bradford to Halifax and walked to The
Shay with us.

Every club has made us more than welcome, and Halifax were no
different, putting on a breakfast for us as well as a short question
and answer session with the fans there.

We then headed towards the M62, over the motorway and into
Huddersfield, where we enjoyed a pint under the plaque at The George
Hotel, where Rugby League was founded back in 1895.

Great Britain team doctor Chris Brookes was another who joined us
today - thankfully he wasn't called into action and everyone is fine
at the moment!

The climbing continues on Sunday, when we will leave Yorkshire and
cross into 'God's own county'!

There is plenty of banter going on, with myself and Clarkey
representing the Red Rose county and Stevo batting for Yorkshire.

No doubt that will continue on Sunday, which is destined to be quite
a long day as we pass the half-way point.

We are all travelling to Wigan for their clash with Widnes on
Saturday evening, and for myself and Phil it's our first time 'home'
in a week.

We will move our base to St Helens for the remainder of the Rugby
League Trek, but are going back to Dewsbury on Sunday evening for a
special fans forum.

Stevo will be returning to his home town, with an evening being
organised at the Alma Pub in Thornhill, where Mick Sullivan will be
joining us from 7.30pm, and a comedian will also be entertaining
everyone.

Raiders roll Sharks

The Raiders have joined Penrith at the top of the NRL ladder
following a 40-12 win against Cronulla at Canberra Stadium.

The two sides share 30 points after the Panthers were beaten 38-24 by
the Roosters at Penrith Stadium.


The Raidersvictory squared the ledger against the Sharks with both
sharing 21 wins from 42 games.

Despite the loss in the third minute of prop Luke Davico due to a
knee injury, the Raiders had few problems against the disappointing
Sharks.

The Raiders raced in four tries to hold a 24-0 lead at half-time
before running in another three in the second half in an impressive
performance. Clinton Schifcofske, the only back not to score a try,
obliged with the boot landing six conversions.

The Sharks were their own worst enemy with a terrible completion
rate. In defence they werent much better with a series of missed
tackles. And the Raiders were allowed too many offloads as the
mounting defensive task took its toll on the Sharks players. The
Sharks were forced to make 302 tackles, 96 more than the Raiders.

Winger Jamaal Lolesi opened the scoring for the Raiders in the 12th
minute and from that point the home side dominated. Ian Hindmarsh and
Adam Mogg scored two quickfire tries midway through the first half
before Jason Bulgarelli crossed just before half-time.

Raiders halfback Mark McLinden ensured there would be no Sharks
revival with a try one minute after half-time.

The Sharks managed to stop the rot with a try to Keith Galloway in
the 50th minute. But it was only a brief respite as the Raiders
onslaught quickly resumed with further tries to Phil Graham (58min)
and Jason Croker (67). Matthew Rieck scored a consolation try for the
Sharks in the 80th minute.

Anderson's ultimatum

Cronulla coach Chris Anderson has given the clubs board a sack me
or back meultimatum after the Sharks crashed to their 13th loss of
the season.

Anderson, who guided Australia to a thumping 48-6 win over New
Zealand on Friday night, said speculation about his future at the
club was sapping morale from his players.


"I'm not going to sit here and bag the players for that performance
because they haven't had an opportunity all week to concentrate on
football because of the speculation," Anderson said.

"It won't go away until the club makes a decision on what they're
going to do.

"We're a divided, dispirited club and we played like that today."

The Sharks went within a game of the Grand final last year, but have
struggled all year, managing just five wins to sit second last on the
ladder.

Anderson said the club had failed to publicly support his methods
since he arrived in 2002 and that had affected the players.

"There's been no support publicly for what I'm trying to do,"
Anderson said.

"They've got to get rid of me or buy into what I'm doing.

Jones to see Warriors doctor tomorrow

New Zealand Warriors and Kiwis playmaker Stacey Jones is to undergo a
medical examination for a strained groin tomorrow.

It should determine the extent of the injury and present a clearer
indication as to how long he would be out of action, a Warriors
spokesman said today.

Jones was injured early in the second half of the Kiwis' 48-6 loss to
the Kangaroos in Friday night's test at Aussie Stadium.

Initial examination indicated he would miss at least the next two
Warriors matches, against Melbourne Storm next weekend and the
Dragons the following weekend.

Jones will see Warriors doctor Chris Hanna tomorrow.

RL Nations confirm World Sevens for Sydney, three Tri Series for GB

A meeting of key Rugby League Nations has formally confirmed the World
Sevens tournament for Sydney next February, and Great Britain as the
venue for the next three Tri Series events.

Today's meeting of Great Britain, France, New Zealand and Australia
on the Gold Coast also confirmed two Tests would be played between
Australia and New Zealand next year but agreed there should be
further discussion regarding the best time to schedule these matches.

"It's fair to say that the comments by the New Zealand coach Daniel
Anderson have been taken on board and that the two nations will talk
further regarding the best time in the year to stage the games," RLIF
Chairman Mr Colin Love said today.

"The television ratings from Friday night are proof of the public
importance of the game, with the match the highest rating football
event in both Sydney and Brisbane last week.

"As with the Tests, the exact date for the World Sevens is yet to be
finalized, but after some 50,000 people attended this year it was
agreed that the event again be played in Sydney in February.

"There was a strong view that the Sevens had provided a real boost to
the game internationally and a report today on the successful
progress of this year's Pacific Island competitions has confirmed
that.

"While today's was technically not A full meeting of the Rugby League
International Federation, it had been endorsed to address these
issues."

The decision to confirm Great Britain as the venue for the Tri Nations
tournaments of 2004, 2005 and 2006 is expected to be a boost for the
game in the UK.

Today's meeting was told of growing enthusiasm surrounding this year's
Kangaroo tour.

"The reports on the tour preparations are very encouraging," Mr Love
said.

"It was agreed today that three different referees will be used in
the three Tests, with the individual appointments to be agreed
between the ARL and the RFL later in the year.

"There's no doubt the Tri Nations events over the next three years
wil build on the interest we are already seeing in the game in
England."

Among the other issues discussed today was a uniform anti doping code
in keeping with the ideals of the World Anti Doping Authority
proposals being circulated throughout international sport.

It was agreed that all countries work towards uniformity but it was
also acknowledged that there were further details to pursue.

Mum's the word on Umaga's days with league club

When Tana Umaga led the All Blacks out for his 50th test last night,
he could thank his mum for steering him in the right direction. The
Kiwis, on the other hand, will be cursing her.

Umaga was a promising league player, starring alongside Ruben Wiki
and Stephen Kearney in the Junior Kiwis before taking up a trial
offer with Newcastle in 1992. However, once on the wrong side of the
Tasman, Umaga realised real-life wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

He sat in despair as he watched his washing pile grow by the day.

"I was just young and didn't expect what I got when I got here. I
didn't enjoy it, got homesick and went home again," was how Umaga
described his experience at the NRL franchise.

"There was a lot of Kiwis there (John Schuster, Sam Stewart, Tony
Kemp), but it just wasn't what I expected coming from a small town in
New Zealand. Just the way they trained and being away from mum. It
was really tough. I had to do my own washing and that."

Training it seems, has never been a big part of Umaga's make-up. And
the extent to which the Knights put their bodies on the line before
the season had even started convinced Umaga his future lay elsewhere.

"It was just pre-season training. I don't train that hard at the best
of times so it was a bit of a shock to me," he said. "They were
really good to me. They said they didn't want to keep me if I wasn't
happy, so I decided to come home. It's just the way the dice have
rolled for me and here I am."

KELLY'S HEROES CONTINUE REVIVAL

Widnes coach Neil Kelly savoured one of the best wins of his coaching
career after guiding the rejuvenated Vikings to their first win over
Wigan for 13 years.

Kelly's heroes played the title-chasers off the park to race into a
22-0 half-time lead and defended stoically to gain a 22-18 triumph
and halt a 17-match losing run against the Warriors.

The Vikings added Wigan to their earlier top-five scalps of Leeds and
Hull to strengthen their own play-off hopes.

"We've been playing well but it's Wigan and the JJB so it probably
doesn't come any better than this," admitted Kelly.

"We've played the top five in the last five games and won three of
them so we've got to be pleased with the way we're playing.

Fittler stars against Panthers

Brad Fittler enjoyed a two-try outing against his former club as the
Sydney Roosters moved into third place on the National Rugby League
ladder with a 38-24 win over high-flying Penrith.

The Roosters surged to a 26-0 lead by halftime, with Fittler scoring
their opening try when he stepped inside Martin Lang in the 14th
minute.

Lang was the unfortunate victim of another Fittler special in the
second half, with the former Test captain beating the ex-Queensland
prop with a step off his left foot to end a short-lived Penrith
fightback.

That made the score 38-18 with only 10 minutes remaining.

Sunday's loss, before a record crowd of 22,227 at Penrith Stadium,
means Canberra returns to the top of the ladder, with the Panthers
sliding to second.

The Roosters moved above Brisbane, which lost to Manly on Saturday
night.

Dogs maintain scoring rage

The high-scoring Bulldogs kept their hot streak alive with a 42-22
victory over North Queensland in the national Rugby League match at
Sydney Showground.

It was the Bulldogs' sixth win from their last seven starts, during
which time no opponent has kept them below 26 points.

For the Cowboys it was the seventh loss in their last eight games and
effectively ended any realistic chance of them making the finals.

The Bulldogs ran in seven tries to four, and led 18-12 at halftime.

It was the Bulldogs' third straight 40-or-more point performance,
following on from the 48 points they posted against the Knights in
Round 17 and 40 against the Broncos the following week before last
week's bye.

They didn't have it all their own way early on, trailing 10-6 in the
first quarter.

North Queensland also mounted a brief revival in the second half,
slashing an 18 point deficit to eight before a contentious try to
hooker Adam Perry assured the Bulldogs of victory.

Video referee Phil Cooley deliberated for some time before awarding
the try after it appeared Bulldogs forward Andrew Ryan might have
interfered with an attempt to tackle Perry.

Halfback Brent Sherwin was prominent for the Bulldogs, scoring an
important try before halftime when he caught his own bomb to put the
Bulldogs 16-10 up.

He also set up a couple of other tries.

The Bulldogs' tries were scored by fullback Luke Patten, centre
Matthew Utai, prop Steven Price, replacement forward Roy Asotasi,
centre Nigel Vagana, Sherwin and Perry.

Winger Hasem El Masri converted all seven tries and passed 900 first
grade points in the process.

The Cowboys tries were scored by centre Josh Hannay, winger Matt
Sing, five-eighths Jamie Myles and prop Jamie McDonald.

The Bulldogs Corey Hughes was placed on report by referee Steve Lyons
for a 37th minutes incident involving North Queensland's Matt Bowen.

Tigers thrash Knights

Wests Tigers dealt a savage blow to Newcastle's NRL finals hopes with
a club record 52-12 drubbing at Campbelltown Stadium.

The Tigers ran in nine tries to two to leave the 2001 premiers in
desperate trouble, out of the top eight and with the worst for-and-
against record of any team still in contention for the play-offs.

The Knights have now conceded a mammoth 505 points in 18 games in
2003 and will probably need to win their remaining six matches to
make the finals for the seventh year in succession.

Newcastle went into the game without halfback and captain Andrew
Johns (neck), winger Adam MacDougall (hamstring) and rested hooker
Danny Buderus, forcing coach Michael Hagan to make eight positional
changes.

It was always going to be a tough ask against the improving Tigers,
and after going to the break trailing 24-6, it was clear the Knights
were facing an embarrassing scoreline.

Centre John Wilson led the scoring for Wests with a try scoring hat
trick, while five-eighth Daniel Fitzhenry and halfback Lincoln
Withers each grabbed doubles.

Second rower Ben Galea and interchange forward Anthony Laffranchi
posted the Tigers' other two tries, with sharp shooting winger Luke
Covell landing eight conversions from nine attempts at goal.

The win was a joint venture club's biggest over Newcastle and also

And in an added bonus, Sheens gave exciting schoolboy prospect Benji
Marshall his first taste of first grade.

The 17-year-old went on at fullback after half an hour and showcased
his brilliant footwork on several occasions to stamp himself as a
genuine star of the future.

Storm coasts home against Souths

Flying fullback Billy Slater moved within two tries of 2003
pacesetter Rhys Wesser as Melbourne downed South Sydney 24-6 in the
NRL match at Olympic Park.

Eels keep finals hopes with Dragons win

Parramatta produced its best performance of the NRL season, beating
St George Illawarra 36-10 at Parramatta Stadium to keep alive hopes
of making the finals.


Eagles upset Broncos' finals hopes

Brisbane's quest for the NRL minor premiership became a lot tougher
after Manly won the "battle of the wounded" 26-20 at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane Second Division Rugby League Wrap-up for 26 July 2003

Easts remain undefeated in the Open 1 Grade with an 11-4 win over
Banyo. Souths Logan move into third place, on 20 points, after an
upset 26-6 win over second placed Dayboro. In the other match,
Rochedale dropped to fourth place, on 19 points, after they drew 32-
all with Aspley.

In Northside 2, Pine Rivers remain in the competition lead on 29
points after beating Arana Hills 38-10. Ferny Grove is in second
place, on 27, with a 60-0 win over Brighton. In equal third place, on
20 points, are Brisbane Natives and Normanby-UQ, after Normanby beat
Natives 50-30. With two weeks of fixtures left, the only other finals
contender is Brook Sharks, who are on 18 points, after beating
Samford 34-18.

Sunnybank and Carina tied up first and second places in Southside 2
after Sunnybank beat Waterford on a forfeit and Carina had the bye.
They will play in the major semi final next Saturday at Centenary at
3.00 PM. Bulimba Valleys secured third place with an 18?6 win over St
Josephs, while Wynnum Manly Juniors snuck into fourth place by one
point on points for and against with 38-16 win over Capalaba Rhinos.
Wynnum edged out Redlands who beat St Brendans 38-18. Bulimba Valleys
will play Wynnum Juniors in the knock-out semi final at Centenary
next Saturday at 1.15 PM.

The competition leaders in Northside 3, Burpengary, had a narrow 28-
24 win over Holy Spirit, but remain in the lead on 34 points.
Mitchelton are in second place, on 29, after beating Normanby 58-0.
Deception Bay Bombers moved into third place, on 24 points after a
forfeit from Dayboro, while Holy Spirits loss drops them to fourth
place on 23 points.

In Southside 3, Slacks Creek finished on top of the ladder after
beating Logan Brothers 28-4. They will play Mt Gravatt, who beat
Beenleigh Brothers 54-10, in the major semi final at Carina next
Saturday at 3.00 PM. The knock-out semi final at Carina next week at
1.15 PM will be between Beenleigh Juniors, who beat Sunnybank 24-18,
and Souths, who beat Wynnum Juniors 34-16.

North Stradbroke Island finished the home and away rounds in
Southside 4 undefeated with a close 26-22 win over Waterford. They
will now play Browns Plains, who defeated Mustangs 68-12, in the
major semi final at Kookaburra Park next Saturday at 3.00 PM.
Waterford finished in third place and will play Capalaba, who
defeated Logan Brothers 30-18 in a match which determined fourth
place, in the knock-out semi at Kookaburra Park next Saturday at 1.15
PM.

Norths Juniors retain the competition lead in the Albert Bishop
Shield, on 33 points, after having the bye. In second place, on 29,
is Rochedale, who beat Valleys Juniors 30-22. Logan Brothers are in
third place, on 25, after beating St Brendans 52-12, while Valleys
Juniors loss leaves them in fourth place, on 24. In fifth place, on
23, is Redlands who beat Capalaba 34-22

In the Arthur Sparks Shield, Sunnybank remain in the lead, on 30,
with a 38-4 win over Albany Creel. Springwood stay in second place,
on 23, with a forfeit from Centenary. Logan Brothers moved into third
place, on 20, with a 34-18 win over Wynnum Manly Juniors, while the
Albany Creek loss leaves them in fourth place on 19 points.

KANGAROO TOUR 2003 and NRL FINAL SERIES 2003 TOUR for the UK fans

For Aussie fans, the Official Big League "Artie's Army" has four
Kangaroo Tours to choose from. [see below]

For UK fans a tour is being organised encompassing the NRL 2003
Finals Series.

RLCM is assisting 'Experience Sport!', a Sydney based sport travel
company dedicated to the true Rugby League enthusiast. It is
conducting two exciting tours later this year for Aussie and UK
supporters.

Regular tour information will be forwarded through RLCM News Groups.

RLCM will be conducting Rugby League Coaching Forums in the UK
coinciding with the Kangaroo Tour.

The Forums will be held at Bolton - 8th November, Wigan - 12th
November and at Huddersfield - 19th November.
