My vacations are over. Back to work next Monday.
Just to recap, in 1 month I went from snowkiting in the Tirol Alps in
10 knots to braving 25+ knots in tropical Buzios Peninsula in Brazil.

And for my last day of vacation GOD gifted me with this...a beautiful,
sunny Friday with 16/18 knots to play.

Amazing how we can keep on learning new shit-been kiting 7 years and still
there's stuff to learn.

The technique works great with Naish SLE kites-tried it myself this past
weekend.

Thanks for the link.

mostly probably not attacked when kiting, but I can imagine sharks could attack
some butt which is hangin' too long in the water :D
kidding asside: while the rider is in water (mostly shallow, right?) and sharks
are near, anything can happen. These creatures are very curious, and they react
also to splashes (which kitesurfers do).

I personally haven't heard yet of kitesurfers nor windsurfers being attacked.
Nevertheless, knowing an area which HAS sharkies, I'd stay away from there.

Anybody else?

Hi

I Kitesurf at Waddell Creek (California). Now the Landlord is the Great
White who is feeding mostly on Elephant Seal pups at Ano Nuevo north
about a mile. But I am sure they do cruise by south. I havent seen one.
But they have been sighted along the coast. No one as far as I know has
had issues. I do however think about it sometimes while kiting or
surfing and when I go to China I NEVER eat sharks-fin-soup...bad karma.

Of course you can! Particularly when your kite breaks or the wind dies

Hiya

If I recall correctly, there was a report about 2Y back regarding a kiter
who had his board bitten by a great white off Durban (South Africa) during a
down wind race - he survived with no injuries. If you have seen the video
clips / foto's taken around Cape Agullas area of Great Whites attacking live
seals and a dummy seal towed behind a ski-boat - then imagine how attractive
a nice coloured board must look silhouetted against the surface with nice
speed curves, or even better those nice yummy legs hanging down whilst body
dragging towards yr board!!

Good news is that they generally stay away from aerated water, so stay
inside the surf zone and avoid drop-offs where they like to lurk waiting for
the seals returning from feeding inside the surf zone.

The kiters in Richards Bay, Durban, East London and Muizenburg for sure must
have some experience with Da Whitey and may have some stories / tips.

Cheers

HI i was wandering if any one could help me i just got a naish x4 16m
(off my other half as a prezzie) and although im a old hand at kite
flying having one of the first peter powle stunt kites (about 33 years
ago lol)and one of the original flexifoil 10 footer and nassa wing for
my buggy (slow but powerful) and a few foils in between i understand
the dynamics of the wind but NEVER used a bar for controlling a kite
before.
TO THE QUESTION :
can any one recommend a decent control bar and harness for this
kite(in the cheap ish bracket)as it has not got one. (kite only).
And why you would recommend it.
am i better of with 4 or 5 line set up or even if i can use a 5 line
set up. i have explored the net for answers but this only confuses the
issue further.
it all started with me geting a side winder board out of my local
paper about 7 years ago for 10£.
but i want to give it the best of British try any how, before deciding
to go for the mega bucks dogs nuts thing, and spending a years wage on
a set up lol. any advice at this stage would be good.
thanks in advance
