From the first time I saw you kite at the Love In Dave I knew you
were mad too!! :-)))
I know you are not knocking Goshen, when you first watch that video
it looks pretty mad!
Sounds like lots of fun down there behind that rockwall, something I
have to find up here, just found out I need a knee replacement!
That was not one of my better days, but after I let it fully sink in,
I realised I will always be able to buggy, and probably always be
able to fly some sort of kite!
Can't kite in choppy water at all now, need smooth stuff, and then I
can last an hour os so, will be putting off the op for as long as I
can, maybe the fake knees will get better?
Take care of your knees kiddos!
Have fun, cya and

Kite Sailing Tours....

Is it possible that one of you proficient kite sailors
will be coming down to Corpus Christi anytime soon? I
want to get a rig setup, and have saved all the emails
on how to do it, but think that a live, in person
demonstration would help more than words.

If you are planning a trip to texas, let me know, and
you can stop down here for a day or two. Its a great
place.

I have a friend who has a Hobie 19, and i am in the
market for a Hobie, hope to have one by next summer.

Kite Sailors

Just for you all's information.. I have setup a
kitesailing forum on my website. I am hoping that
those of you interested in kitesailing, and those of
you who actually do it, will post there, and give us
more detailed ideas, and instructions on the best ways
to go about this. :

http://www.kitecorpus.com/community/index.php

You can even attach pictures to the posts there, and
to me, a picture helps a heckuva lot more than words.
I must be a visual learner.

It is almost jump time! The weekend is nearly here and things are ready to
go OFF in Jupiter. The forecast for the weekend has substantiallly improved
over the week and is now:

.FRIDAY NIGHT...NORTHEAST TO EAST WINDS 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4
FEET NEAR SHORE...EXCEPT 5 TO 7 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS
A MODERATE CHOP.
.SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...EAST WINDS 15 KNOTS. SEAS 2 TO 4 FEET NEAR
SHORE...EXCEPT 5 TO 6 FEET IN THE GULF STREAM. INTRACOASTAL WATERS
A MODERATE CHOP.
from:http://nws.noaa.gov

Compared to the light wimpy stuff that we have been riding in most of last
summer in SE Florida (8 kts. sustained, woo-hoo!), this is nearly a GALE!

I just received the following update from Kent Marinkovic on the condition
of Alex Caviglia. Most will recall that Alex was severely injured in a
recent kiteboarding accident.

"November, 20, 2003

Alex Caviglia is still in intensive care at Jackson Memorial NSICU. He
seems to be progressing well and apparently cleared a substantial hurdle
last evening. He is reported to have come out of his coma and is lightly
responding to verbal inquiries. The next few days will hopefully bring
exponential progress for Alex. Alex’s family is strong and remains very
positive. Alex’s wife Silvia and his kids Bianca and Michael want to thank
everyone for the good wishes and support that the entire community has given
to Alex.

For those that are interested in sending best wishes please use the address
below. It is amazing to see what some positive energy has done for Alex and
his family so far. Thank you.

Kent Marinkovic
Adventure Sports

Address:

Silvia Caviglia
5724 SW 131 TERRACE
MIAMI, FL 33156

As more information on Alex’s condition become available up dates will be
posted."

Nothing in life is certain but considering the severity of the impact,
Alex's rapid progress is encouraging. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts
and prayers. It is amazing what positive support and good will can achieve
in challenging times. Alex, his family and friends still have a tough road
ahead so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I am sure that your
letters or cards of good wishes and support to Silvia Caviglia would be very
well received.

For a comprehensive FAQ on kitesurfing read:
http://www.kitesurfingschool.org/faqs.htm

Take a good read at this and search the groups past discussions for more
information (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kitesurf/messages). This way you will
quickly learn the basic information about kitesurfing that you desire.

To unsubscribe, send a message to kitesurf-unsubscribe@egroups.com

=====

Here are some basic recommendations for this list in terms of netiquette. These
recommendations are here to make the list easier to use and read and to make
mail sent more efficient. Also we try and keep the discussions interesting and
want to avoid trash mail.

1 No Spam - send mail to the list ONLY about kitesurfing or things related to
Kites and Boards and Spots. Thats why people signed onto this. Definitely dont
send us messages about viruses or other junk

2 When Replying
- do not copy the whole message you are replying reduce it with <snips> or just
quote the relevant part (this is useful to reduce download times)
- Reply only to the sender (not the whole list) if its something specific for
that person (avoid sending a message of the type "I agree" to the whole list)
NB. When you click reply, the message automatically goes to the whole list.

3 Avoid making unconstructive comments about equipment - The equipment producers
are on the list and they do not appreciate it - We try to keep it fair - the
ground rule is that you can make as many positive comments as you like but we
dont want to hear "that kite sucks". That is not considered constructive.

4 Be helpful and constructive in your responses. Avoid sending a message to the
whole list replying "I dont know"

5 If you are a person involved in the Commerce of kitesurfing equipment , it is
recommended that you add COM to the subject line of messages when commenting on
equipment. Better yet, tell people what you do (Ex. Dealer of so and so kites)

6 Files cannot be sent directly to the list - It is better to post them on the
web (the group under files) or on a web page.

7 To unsubscribe send a message to kitesurf-unsubscribe@egroups.com.

8. Personal attacks should not be on the list. If you cant be nice and you have
to insult someone then do it OFF the list.

Welcome and good luck.

i'm a Venezuelan who lives (and kites) in Miami, FL.
I'm planning a kitesurf trip to Los Roques(*) in December or January for about 1
to 2 weeks in a saiboat (8-10 people).
I travel frequently to Venezuela and know my way around.
I'm starting to plan this, if you're interested email me for more details.

ray.

(*) los Roques archipelago is a world class kitesurfing destination spot (google
los roques for more info) that is only reachable by small airplane and/or
yacth/sailboat north of La Guaira (where the Venezuela international airport
is). wind in december-July is 17-30 kts

Venezuela is about 2.5 hours (200 to 300$) flight from Miami.
It's an unexpensive place to travel since the dollar is very strong against the
national currency.

other more famous spots in venezuela include el yaque, coche, margarita , (world
class destinations). but i've heard a lot of good stories about los roques, and
actually been there a while ago (before taking up kitesurf), it's a amazing
place.

we'd fly (30 min) from caracas to los roques and stay there on a sailboat
which would take us around the archipelago. we'd live on it during this
time. also there are several "posadas" (small hotels) on the bigger islands.
there are a couple of well known kitesurf spots (ie Madrisqui/ dos
mosquises) close to Gran Roque (where aircraft usually land) but there are
about 50 islands and 200 keys in los roques so it's very likely there are
many other good spots.
this is all in planning stage, im working out the details in the next couple
of weeks.
pd. no problem with females!

I was born in a tropical country with more than 2000 km of coastal
beachese.

For better or worse, I ended up in Canada in the last 30 years.

Kiting is the amazing 4 seasons sport that make me love being in Canada
more than any othe place on earth (the changing of season and the
changing of media - water .vs. snow - keep the sport fresh in me twice
every year).

P.S., Some may argue that kiting is a deadly sport, but it is only
deadly when you are hooked in (this makes the deadman safety system
inoperable). So if you are concerned about safety, unhook as often as
you can, the risk becomes very manageable...

When I first learned kitesurfing back in 1998, I did extensive research
on power kite safety system.

Back then, the consencious was that one needs a deadman safety system in
powerkiting to make it a safe sport.

With current kites, if one hooks in, the deadman safety system becomes
inoperable (unless one can make a 100% depowerable kite as I am trying
to build right now - "the chicken loop is the safety leash" objective).

Since 1998, I have read, heard, seen, many serious, fatal accidents in
kite sport that could be avoided if one follows the golden "deadman
safety" rules.

P.S., When Peter Lynn had his accident at SBBB 2003, was he hooked in???

Hey,

In preparation for the snow, I rigged my Naish with a 5th line. Man,
it worked GREAT!! I took it down to the beach, and rigged it in
about 5 minutes. I just ran some nylon line straight through the eye
at the top of the first strut (built in to the Naish!!), and then
tied it on the 2nd one. I ran it back to the bar and tied this on to
some webbing I picked up at Canadian tire and badda boom. I turned
the kite into the wind, cranked in on the line, and in about 30
seconds the kite lifted into the air!! This really takes the
frustration out of kiting alone! ...Can't wait for the snow!!!

or are they a one size fits all I have a friend that lives in maui
and according to him some of the people on the beach that could have
the kites of there choice are in fact choosing and riding
boxers... could it be that boxers are just like the aero 1 with the
turning ability of the aero 2. I am just alittle confused as to why
I might need an x3 or v4 when some of the top riders are riding
boxers who knows they may just be out of cash this season.
highly unlikely!. I would love some input from some experienced
riders that own or have ridden the boxer, maybe compared to other
naish kites. I have read info on all and have ridden everything
but the v4 and the boxer. naish has a wonderful way of highlighting
the kites attributes without ever really telling you anything I
think the boxer might be a low aspect high performance kite sold at
a low price point just to attract new blood J

No, he was not hooked in. His "flight" was all of 4-5 feet. He was
sitting down on the edge of a platform at the beginning, on his face
at the end. Just a bad fall, really.

The ultimate in safety systems is coming and F-ONE are the people to do it,
the new bar that they are developing is a punch out system similar to the
Ocean Rodeo but with a leash like Flexi or Cabhrina in that the chicken loop
is your leash. I cant wait to get my hands on it, never any hassle with
spinning the bar and the best quick release system, no looking for a grab
ball down near your waist somewhere as you are being dragged on your belly
up a rock strewn beach, just punch it and your gone, fair play to F-One. I
use the Ocean Rodeo bar and I have talked about it here before, punch out
sytems are the only way to go, it saves vital seconds if something goes
wrong. Anybody who has used the ocean rodeo will know what I mean.
You can check out early pictures of F-One`s system at the link below.
