Kitesurfing--as a kite system--involves sectors of hang gliding.
Milestones of kitesurfing will gradually be posted in the major
timeline growing at www.HangGliderHistory.com
The kitesurfer is the the piloting anchor of the kite system
(variously gravity powered or water-tacking-drag powered). When air
time or hang time occurs, the system is in full hang-glide mode.
In time there will be some remote controlling by a kitesurfer of
his or her wing that will be controlled for long-time paragliding
from a kitesurf start for very-long hang-time hang gliding flight
sectors.
There will also be some systems where large shape-change or morphing
will be controlled so that smaller wings will be triggered to larger
more soarable wings and back again to higher sail-loading for water-
contact and travel.
The past history of kitesurfing will be developed in the Timeline.
