To answer your question, the bigger the field, the better it is as the wind is more constant. A lake is ideal as the wind is usually better.

I'm a skier since I'm 2 years-old (I turned 30 last sunday). My
girlfriend, which is with me since 10 years don't ski. So I'm tired
of waiting alone in the chairlift line for 15 minutes to go downhill
in less than 3 minutes...
I discover your sport and I bought, yesterday, a 7.3 m Frenzy kite. I
never saw such a kite flown.
I own a professionnal weather station, and I'm waiting for a day when
the wind will below 10 mph to try it.
After this (boring) intro, my questio is: is it hard to ski in a
field? I live near crop fiels and during winter, we have plenty of
wind and snow here (Southern Quebec). I have acess to a lake were
other fellow do snowkiting, but someday, I might want to try it in
the field. The snow is not dammed, so i want to know if it is hard to
snowkite in such conditions...
Martin.
