The first listen always makes a big impression. Some CD's you have to listen to over and over for it to grow on you. I believe that if I were to give you this to listen to right now that you would feel the same excitement and energy from just hearing the first track. "Plans To Wake Up On The Beach" opens this EP and it's catchiness will suck you in like a whirl wind. The band isn't doing any major affects or guitar work. But they way they set their songs up just brings a smile to my face. I believe that many of you will find liking for this band if you haven't already. If you like anything that's catchy and full of energy this just may be your new favorite band. The lyrics are quite good and yes fun to sing along to. "Talk Radio" is my favorite on this EP. The band tries several different things with effects on the vocals as well as the guitars. Mixing in background vocals boosts the enjoyment to the song. "Golden" has a catchy intro as it leads into another song with a sing along chorus. On "Letters To Summer" the intro is very catchy again and the song has an overall very catchy sound. The sounds they do with the guitar in this song are what make it stand out so much.

Rating 4 out of 5
"Lyrical structure has rarely sounded so clean and well crafted. Back that with resonating alternative riffs and a few damn catchy choruses and you've got one of the best EP's to come through the office in quite some time. While at moments comparable to Dead Poetic, we're certainly not complaining about the rock infusion that defines Self Against City's style. "

Steel Train

Twilight Tales was recorded with producer Stephen Barncard (Grateful Dead, Crosby, Stills and Nash) at the legendary Prairie Sun Studio in Northern California.  The sprawling open-air ranch was the perfect backdrop for Steel Train to explore their unique style of music that effortlessly flows from rock, country, bluegrass, funk, Latin, and jam. Steel pedal pioneer Gene Parsons (Flying Burrito Brothers, Byrds) and famed mandolinist Dave Grisman (Grateful Dead) are special guest performers on Twilight Tales.  The lush album artwork by John Craig (Smashing Pumpkins) completely captures the whimsy of the recording and the beauty of the music.
