Hi, Sorry about how quiet I have been. I have
been very, very busy.<br>I'll probably get even more
scarce as I spend less time on the computer and more
time preparing for my second recommended black belt
testing.<br>I haven't given a lot of thought to the best
scriptures to use for setting moral guidelines for the
martial artist, because I am in no position to use the
information for anything. However, recently in another club,
an issue came up. The club is a pro-life club, and
there are a couple of participants who think we should
kill abortionists to defend unborn babies. Some of
these people post scripture, and they pervert it. So
today, I posted the following passage:<br><br>"Dearly
beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto
wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine: I will
repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger,
feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so
doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not
overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans
12:19-21.<br><br>What I said was that the unborn who have been
slaughtered are with the Lord. They cannot feed their
enemies, or give them to drink, so we have to do it for
them. I think this applies to our use of the martial
arts. While we may use the martial arts to defend
others when necessary, there are times when rather than
aggressively defend, we yield, rather in the manner of a
judoka who does a self-sacrifice, because in so doing,
we can overcome evil with good. God does the
coal-heaping. The tricky part is the discernment to know when
we should aggressively defend, and when we should
yield.<br>Pat
