Re: training tips-try this for moving in

Hi, ImpactTKD. I was reading your description of
the technique adapted for taekwondo, and you use some
slightly different terminology from what I am used to, so
your description is still a little puzzling to me.
What is an open stance? What is a low TKD front
stance, and why does it result in an outward
sweep?

I have a couple of combinations I like to use. One
starts with three punches to the solar plexus followed
by an inside crescent to the head. Since I have
faked my opponent into protecting his solar plexus, he
is usually not expecting the strike to the head.
Another combination I like to use starts from a back
stance, and using the back leg, I do an inside crescent
to the upper body (either to strike or to remove a
block), followed by a reverse spin side kick to the solar
plexus with the other foot. I am also very fond of
spinning back fists to the temple, or jumping reverse back
fists.
Do you teach your students how to break a board with
an inside crescent? It is my favorite kick, but I
have found that when I go to a seminar or something, I
always have to teach them how to hold the boards so that
I can do it. I don't believe anyone else in our
school does this kick, except probably the instructor.
