and boy am I happy! Couldn't stop saying how beautiful it was when I picked her
up from my bike guy. (He was pretty enthusiastic himself.) Just a work of art.
Took her on her virgin scoot to show her off to a couple of different friends.
The brakes feel super smooth, the ride is great (would be smoother with
different tires but these work for me for now), and I'm not sure if it's much
easier going up hill or if my jubilation was making it seem so. The floorboard
is not as long as the Mibo, so when doing the leg change dance (as opposed to
the hop skip) there's a little less wiggle room when you straighten your foot
out, but the feet seemed to adapt quickly. I scooted to a bus layover to try
out the bike rack and as I was told by a few of you here, yes, it works! The
front tire sits comfortably, the rear tire not really (especially when the "arm"
slides all the way to the top of the front wheel). I may bungee the footboard
near the back wheel the first few times just for safety's sake, but I think even
without it, it's not going anywhere. Later in the week I'm planning on bussing
down to the beach and having a ride on the bike path toward Malibu. I was
expecting the front wheel to be quick release, but it's the back wheel. The
good part of that is I don't have to worry so much about locking the tires, as I
think it's unlikely anyone will go for the 12.5 incher. Front AND rear
mudguards! Gosh, I don't even want to go to bed just thinking of them! Oh, and
one thing I didn't think I'd want that it turns out I really like is the
kickstand. I rode a previous generation Kickbike last summer and the kickstand
kept dropping and getting in the way. They got it right this time. I found it
pretty cool to use when talking with friends I was visiting and it should come
in handy when riding the subway. Really this scoot has exceeded my
expectations. I think the Mibo was the perfect first scooter for me and this
one the perfect second!
