Hello
The weed eating has started at Osage Hills. The trail was in pretty good
conduction but grass needed trimmed. makes the trail faster and help clean fall
leaves later on.
Today I got most of the lower part done. I'll start the top later this week.
Soon there will be no more annoying weeds hitting you as you ride the trail.
Yea!
I hope everyone plans to attend the Osage Hills Mountain bike race Nov. 9th
Email me if you want a flyer.

2008 De Stad Cyclocross Van Kansas Series presented by Paceline Products

The Kansas City cyclocross season opens this weekend with the Diamond Blackfan Cyclocross Challenge presented by Perceptive Software .  "Our first event is a great opportunity to not only kick off the cyclocross season in style, but to also raise money and awareness for a much needed cause - The Diamond Blackfan Anemia Foundation," says series director Chris Locke

Our first event will also be a first for the City of Lenexa and will highlight what Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park has to offer. Co-race director Tige Lamb has designed a 1.8 mile course that offers, pavement, sand, steep run-ups, flowing corners and more fun than any one person can handle. Festivities begin at 9 a.m with registration opening and the coffee brewing. New for the 2008 season is the addition of the Category 4 (Beginner) Masters 35+/45+ classes.  If you have ever thought about trying your hand at this crazy, exciting, friendly sport, this is a great class for it.  Check out one of the other 13 classes offered at www.kansascitycross.com. There is a class for you!

With over $15,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded and custom series awards, the De Stad Cyclocross Van Kansas Series presented by Paceline Products will be the Midwest's premier cyclocross race series.  The six event series begins on September 28th and ends with the De Stad Cross Cup/Kansas State Cyclocross Championships on November 16th.  As in previous years, a point's competition is being offered for all classes with the top finisher in each class receiving paid entry fees into all 2009 De Stad Cyclocross Van Kansas series events. Register at SportsBaseOnlineFor series rules, results, flyers, directions, registration, classes and start times visit the De Stad Series website at www.kansascitycross.com

Pre-register to be entered to win some great prizes including a free Giant frameset, crankbrothers pedals, tools, tires and more.

In an effort to keep the cost of competion down, we have kept our entry fee at $20.00 for Beginner's and Master's classes.  All cash payout classes will be $25.00. To help grow the sport and with help from the KCA, we have lowered the entry fee to only $5.00 for all beginner women.

Hi everyone!
The trail can be used. Sounds like Corey is keeping on top of it. THANKS COREY!!!! drop by the bike shop while in Bartlesville and tell him thanks.
There is a church group that keeps the trail open and rides it all the time but I don't know if they are on this online group. ARE YOU?

The KORS web site will be deleted as it is not needed any longer.
The ABC bike shop web site will be replaced at some point too but I am not sure when. I am no longer in charge of that.
I am planning an organized trail-work day the Saturday and Sunday before the race event. The 4th and 5th of Oct. starting at 9am Meet at the trail head and bring tools if you have them.
Some people will drive around to the top and work on the prairie. I have only two weed eaters so if you have a heavy duty one bring it.
That's the plan anyway.

The trailboss is out of town for an extended time so little maintainence has taken place to my knowledge. He will be back and have the trail ready in time for the event.

Could you tell the specifics on the barriers that are keeping Osage from being "ready"?
How rideable is the trail?   Thanks

Cycling Friends,

If you haven't signed up or know someone who hasn't, the t-shirt cutoff has passed but registration is still open and you can still get the lunch. The ride is only $12 until September 5, then $15 on event day, lunch is extra.

Signup NOW.... save $3.00 and use it to pay for most of the gas you'll need to get to Pryor from just about anywhere.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who might enjoy one of the best fall bike rides in the country.

Thank you,

JimAndMarie and the Pryor Area Chamber of Commerce

OK, I need to get rid of a couple of things.
1. Sunn bmx mini. Great little bike, needs a brake cable and probably tires soon. Steel frame and fork, yellow frame black fork and some black parts. 3"(ish) rise bars, threadless stem. Rear sidepull brake. Free to good home, but I don't want to give it away so someone can make a buck from it. I need to know it's going to a little kid who will ride the snot out of it.

2. Titus Motolite frame 2000 model, large, black. Great riding frame, Fox Float shock, sealed bearing pivots, disc mount, great condition for all the miles I have on it. There's one ding in the rear end, but it's hardly noticeable. A bit of cable rub in a couple of spots, and a Britney Spears sticker on the top tube. (Put on by a bike shop employee as a joke. Kinda like getting Rickrolled)
It's a four bar suspension design, so even though it's a bit old, it's not a totally outdated setup. Originally $1700 frame, I'd like a few hundred bucks for it, or would consider some trades.

3. Manitou xvert super fork. 2000 model, 100mm travel, Full TPC damping, bought with the Titus frame. Great fork, even as obsolete as it is. Mechanic maintained and rebuilt recently before I stopped riding it. A nice companion to the frame, I'll make you a package deal.

I need to clear some space out of my new workspace so I can get some work started.  I'm also on the lookout for a small metal lathe, a drill press, a stationary belt sander, and an arbor press. If you have any framebuilding specific equipment, I'm definitley interested in talking.

Faye and Randall, I look forward to any help you guys can provide.  I have recruited two other volunteers for registration on Sunday but anticipate three will be ideal.  I also need someone to help post results and help officials count riders.
Thanks!

i was at turkey today still to muddy to ride im a mazed by the mud, rock, timber slide on the mid hochi, we had cut and  removed a big dead fall last sunday and noticed a huge boulder that had came down the slope when the tree let loose there was also a mud slide making its way down it didnt seem like it would be to big a deal. Today the  mud slide is across the trail a bunch more timber down and the whole ridge above looks unstable and  ready to come down on whats left of the trail. I turned around at the slide and headed back to the check out the Bomb Run it had a creeek flowing down it and the drop was just about washed out. We may need to consider a trail day or many be several.
