The Rugby Football League (RFL) are delighted to give you and your club the chance to nominate someone for the inaugural 2005 RFL National Volunteer Awards. The Awards recognise the hard work, dedication and commitment of volunteers within the game at club, league and Service Area levels.

There are five categories you can nominate someone for. These are:

  • Youth Volunteer of the Year (under 25 as at 1st July 2005)
  • All Rounder - the volunteer who wears many hats and keeps the club running
  • Building the team - person who recruits and coordinates other volunteers within the club and local community
  • Keeping it alive and kicking - volunteer who brings in new commercial support through an innovative approach
  • Service Areas/Leagues - volunteer who is active within League or Service Area You can nominate a person for more than one award if you wish.

Winners will be notified by 15th July.

The winner of each category will be invited, along with a guest, to attend the Powergen Challenge Cup Final at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on August 27th - watching the match from the comfort and luxury of a hospitality box with a three course meal too!

National Volunteer Manager, Rachel Salt said: "We are delighted that this year the hard work and commitment of people who work within the game purely for the love of it, will have the opportunity to be recognised in such a unique and prestigious way. These awards are a token of the gratitude that Rugby League has for its team of volunteers and the fact that we are able to hold the inaugural awards in the Year of the Volunteer adds to their high standing and worth."

Nominators will also be entered into a prize draw to win a limited edition signed Great Britain Rugby League shirt from last year's inaugural Gillette Tri-Nations Tournament.

All entries must be completed and received by the 26th June 2005.

You can nominate by completing the attached nomination form and sending it by post to: The Rugby Football League Volunteer Awards, West Yorkshire House, 4 New North Parade, Huddersfield, HD1 5JP or by Fax on: 01484 519985 You can also email: volunteering@... (Title the email ‘The Rugby Football League Volunteer Awards’ in the subject section.  Include your name, address and contact telephone number as well as the name, address and contact telephone number of the person you are nominating Then, list the category and reason why you feel he deserves to be recognised)

This would really help raise the profile of the Kent Ravens in the Rugby Media and in our local area too.
