South London Storm 34-30 Kent Ravens   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #329 of 366 |
In their final game of the regular season the Kent Ravens narrowly
lost out to South London Storm in a feisty encounter at Croydon. The
Ravens started the brighter and appeared to settle into the game a
lot quicker than the Storm. This quick start was rewarded with an
early try through Tom White, who broke clear of the defence and raced
to the try line. Aiden Oakley kicked the goal to make the score 6-0
to the Ravens. Then from their next attack the Ravens scored again
when Jeff Luland stretched and reached over the line to touch down.
Aiden Oakley scored the goal again to make it 12-0 to the Kent
Ravens. At this stage of the game it looked as though the match could
be over by half time, however South London Storm had other ideas and
scored three quick fire tries to make the score 16-12 to the Storm.
Just before half time Mark Mooney managed to claw the Ravens back
into the game by scoring a try to leave the score 16-16 at half time.

As with the start of the first half, the Ravens raced out of the
blocks and scored two early tries from Tom White and Jeff Luland,
both of which were their second tries of the match. Tom White kicked
the goal to his try to make the score 26-16 to the Ravens. The second
half seemed to be following the same pattern as the first half when
the Storm scored four tries of their own, which completely turned the
game around with the score at 34-26. The second half turned into a
feisty affair which required the players to keep their heads focussed
on the game. In the dying moments of the match the Ravens went all
out to snatch it but one try from Manbir Mann, which topped off a
great performance from him, was not enough to win it for the Ravens.

Therefore the final score was 34-30 to South London Storm, and the
Kent Ravens head into next week's play offs hoping for a bit more
luck than this week but will undoubtedly play with the same spirit
they displayed throughout this match.
