Grant to help Ravens develop young players   Message List

In the last couple of weeks Kent Ravens Rugby League Club has
received a Kent County Council Member Community Grant. This grant
has come from the members of the Kent County Council for the
Dartford area. Each of the 84 county councillors can provide
financial support for projects that they feel will benefit their
local communities. In the past, the funding has helped a wide range
of projects around Kent, and this time it was the turn of the Kent
Ravens.

Three of the Kent County Council's members expressed their delight,
and reasons why they decided to support the Kent Ravens in this way,

`I am delighted to have been able to help Kent Ravens from my
Members Community Grant and hope the grant will go some way in
increasing the involvement of yet more young people in this exciting
sport!!' Christine Angell – KCC Member for Dartford East

`I hope that the grant is beneficial to the team in many ways, and
that it helps to create a team of good rugby players.' Bertie
Bassam – KCC member

`This is a great project, it helps local young people keep fit and
healthy, off the streets having fun and enjoying themselves.' Tom
Maddison – KCC Member

This grant will enable the Ravens to expand and develop as a club,
and will help young people to learn a new sport, and new skills.

Also on Thursday 17th April, Princes Park Stadium, and Kent Ravens
RLFC played host to one of the most famous trophies in world sport,
the Rugby Football League Challenge Cup. The cup, which is over 100
years old, was paraded on the pitch at the stadium, which will be
the home of the Kent Ravens in their upcoming season. People of all
ages got the chance to have their photo taken with this famous
trophy, and study the famous names of teams and players that have
won the trophy since its beginning, the 1896-97 season. Hopefully
it inspired the young and the more experienced players even more to
want to win trophies with the Kent Ravens this season.
