Ravenettes get the party started.

Saturday’s Dartford Festival started with a massive parade around the borough town centre, lead by Natalie and her stunning Ravenettes making their first official appearance to publicise the Kent Raven versus London Skolars at Princes park Stadium on Friday 3rd August at 7:30pm. As the Ravenettes drummed up support at the festival in central park the Ravens played a tough set of matches against National RLC Premier Champions South London Storm next door at Acacia Hall.

The score line may sound like a one sided match but that was far from the truth as Storm made sure they punished the Ravens every time the Kent side made a small mistake while the home side could only manage to break the South London defence twice, the first time being held up as Ravens tried the ground the ball while second was a 50-50 chance from a great kick through from centre Richard Williams as the winger tried to gather the ball while being taken out by his opposite number. Great work in defence from the Ravens came from captain Dane Smith and Kent’s man of the match Edward Easter end, score 0-66, however it back to the drawing board again for the Kent Ravens as they see the arrival of Ipswich Rhinos to Acacia Halls next Saturday at 2:30pm.

In a much closer match, the curtain raiser between the two side’s reserves teams, shown how the Ravens young team (9 of the starting 13 were under 20) are maturing as the season goes on, three tries came from debutant Simon Rumsey and Dave Sylvester continued his fine scoring form, while brave tackling came from captain Tony Peach and Oliver Lewis however it wasn’t enough to stop South London taking the London League points, final score 18 - 30

The big match is coming up at Prices park Stadium on Friday 3rd August against London Skolars; kick off at 7:30pm, which Tickets are now available for at www.kentravens.co.uk don’t miss out!
