Ravens make international stage again.
After Ewen Drummond with Scotland and Daniel King for England, the Kent Ravens have had a player pull on a international jersey for the third year running as Star Prop Paul Hyder was selected over the weekend to playing for the winning England Lionhearts side against Scotland, final score 42-40.
On the domestic front with the ravens first team in a bye week from the Premier South, the reserves continued there quest for the first win in the London league as they travelled to take on Feltham Eagles, even two tries from Drummond couldn’t fire up the ravens as they walked away with a 48-16 lose to the Eagles.
Similar story line for the women’s strong as they again took on the heavyweights of the League: West London Sharks away, even though there was a much improved display with Captain Rebecca balance being forced to watch from the side line with injury the Sharks won 48-18.
So it was left to the Junior Ravens under 14s to bag the win for the weekend as they came up against a tough Ashford Rugby union side, both teams through the ball around and playing makes that made both coaches jumping up and down around their own try line. The Ravens were up 28-0 at half time, but Ashford came back with a quick fire 16 points in the first 15 minutes of the final half, final score 50-16 to the Ravens, but with the Union side learning quickly the rematch at princes park Stadium on the 3rd August as a curtain raiser at 6:00pm should be exciting to say the least.
The big match is coming up at Prices park Stadium on Friday 3rd August against London Skolars; kick off at 7:30pm, which Tickets are now available for at www.kentravens.co.uk don’t miss out!
Next Saturday is a massive weekend for the Ravens as all the senior side play at home: the women kick off at 11am against the RAF, forwarded by the reserves at 12:30 who like the first team at 2:30 take on South London Storm all at Acacia hall. While this is all going on the ravenettes will make their first public appearance in the Dartford Festival parade at 10:00am
