Tragic end to tough weekend.

South London Storm 72 vs. 2 Kent Ravens

Suffering a massive injury list and coming up against the national champions the Kent ravens knew that this weekend will be tough however the club was still able to field 50 senior players in one day! but unfortunately the match went to form as after a steady start when Tom Claridge put the only two points of the game on the board with penalty and after 15 minute it was 10-2 to storm, the 2006 champions accelerated away even though Prop Paul Hyder and second Row Dane Smith put up a massive display in defence, it was one of these massive tackles that put an end to the match as ravens star Scrum half Salam Gasmi came up from a ruck and collapsed suffering back pain before being taken to hospital, thankfully he was released later in the day and as the match had progressed over an allotted time the score stands as 72-2 to South London Storm, while as the curtain raiser prior the Kent Ravens reserves went down 82-10 to South London Storm 2s with debutant Luke and Returnee Daniel King getting the tries while Ewen Drummond added one of the conversation but missed the other from in front of the posts.

On the other side of the capital, the Kent Ravens women had their first run out for the 2007 campaign against a strong but new to the League Nottingham Outlaws, Captain Rebecca Balance led from the front with a try but it was debutant Kyla Butcher that’ll take the headlines with a try and two goals, with Hannah Grant and prop Hebe West added the other two tries, coach Kenny Bell commented that “What an exciting start to the season, the team played well together in high temperature and I can’t wait to play that team again hopefully at home next team”.

Next Saturday The Kent Ravens look to take revenge over Ipswich Rhinos away while the Junior Ravens take on West London Sharks in Dartford.
