Ravens give 2006 finalists a scare

The Kent Ravens progression in the Conference Premier continued on Saturday against the 2006 southern finalists West London Sharks who boasted another strong line up, of the back of great performances from consistent Prop forwards Paul Hyder and Ravens man of the match Ricky McKinley the Kent side were able to match the Sharks frequently. The first try came from a solo effort in the middle of the pitch from returning winger Constantine Hatzidakis who broken through a number of tackles to score under the posts while the second try was from a high kick from stand off Michael Muir, The score line was flattering to the London Side as Ravens’ own fitness seemed to be the deciding factor in the second half and the Ravens let in some soft try and squandered a couple of chances to score at the other end. With 55 minutes on the clock the score was locked at 24-12 but a couple of quick tries from the impressive West London fullback put the win out of reach at 42-12. The outcome of the match is that for the first time and playing against the finalists from last season the Ravens proved that deserve to be in the Premier and can compete against the best, with has added more importance to next Saturdays match which will see the arrival of Kingston Warriors at Acacia Hall for a 2:30pm kick as the Kent Ravens expect a big crowd and an intimidating atmosphere for the visitors.
