Dartford Sports Awards
Dartford’s top sport stars will be recognised for their talent and dedication as nominations for the borough’s Sports Awards open on Thursday 18 January.Councillor Mrs Patsy Thurlow, portfolio holder for leisure and sport believes the bar can be raised even higher this year.
“It’s been a great year for sport across Dartford with the opening of both Princes Park stadium and the new Olympic training standard Judo centre and this is a wonderful opportunity for individual clubs and people to shine as well.
“We understand the importance of sport to the community and we are dedicated to investing in sport and rewarding talent and this year is no different.
Every year we are spoilt for choice with outstanding nominations and we are looking forward to hearing the exciting achievements of Dartford’s finest.”
The awards recognise the wide range of sports practised across the borough and in the past we’ve been recognised for netball, volleyball, aikido and even bare-footed water-skiing.
A judging panel will select the winners based on their achievements in 2006. Categories include under 13s, under 16s, under 21s, sports club of the year and sports coach of the year. Each winner receives a trophy and cheque for £100.
