Karen,
Yes, runners usually show up for this one. . I wasn’t able to show up on
Saturday, but, except for one time, every time I’ve showed up, at least one
other person has been there. We
usually have about four to six runners. You probably just picked a bad weekend.
(Perhaps, because “Bad” Ben Holmes was on vacation, everyone decided to take a
rest too.)
Hopefully, we’ll see you next Saturday.

Running Locations for the next TWO WEEKS
I'm going on a
two-week vacation (starting tomorrow). I won't be at the trail
training runs,
but this group has enough momentum to cruise on just fine,
without
me. I'm posting the normal Thursday night and Saturday locations.
If
you folks want
to get together on Sunday or whatever, just post to
kctrailrunning@yahoogroups.com
and work it out.
Happy trails,
Ben

Special Weather
Note:
There is always
a chance of severe weather for these runs. We will usually run
in a light rain,
but we will NOT meet if there are severe thunderstorms or high
winds (at the
time of the run). A little mud here and there is not bad, but
trees or
branches falling onto us or lightning zapping near us is not cool.

SATURDAY
MORNING:
SATURDAY
MORNING, 6:30 AM meeting time, 6:40 starting time:
We will run a 6
to 8-mile trail run loop, starting in
on the
river crossings,
and multiple stream crossings. "Normal" running shoes work
fine on this
trail system. If you want to do multiple loops, that's cool.
Here are the
directions to the park:
At the south end
of the I-435 loop, take I-435 (east/west) to the
exit. Go south
on Holmes to
Phillips 66 on
the right). Go left (east) on
bridge. The park
entrance is the first right just past the bridge. You will see
a green
porta-potty in the parking lot. We call this the "alternate"
trail
access to the
BuRP Trail System.
Here's a
MapQuest map to the entrance to the park:

THURSDAY NIGHT:
Trail Running
Thursday Night (prior to sunset), 8:30 PM
This Thursday
Night trailrunning group has been a BLAST, lately!
Tonight, we'll
be running on rocky & rooty trails in
sunset), at 8:30
PM. This is an all-comers, non-organized, night trail-training
event.
Dress will be "trail casual" and flashlights and/or headlamps are a
must, unless you
like falling on your face. Our pace will be such that we will
start slow, and
will always wait for the slowest runner to catch up. We will
run for 45
minutes to 1 hour. This translates into about 5 miles, for you
anal-mileage-types.
This is a really
good way to increase "trail feel" and to get your "trail
legs"
if you are
training for trailrunning events. It's also real fun.
Meeting
Time: Thursday, 8:30 PM...we'll start running at 8:40 PM.
