We are only a couple of weeks away from our black belt weekend. We
have moved the event to Coronado High School (on Filmore) because of
the increased security at the Air Force Academy.
Friday night will be the black belt test. This is the first time we
have ever opened the testing up to the general public and expect
quite a few people so make sure you get your tickets ahead of time.
On Saturday morning, we are having an in-house tournament so our
people can get some practice before the State-wide tournament to be
held November 17th. On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 everyone is invited
to come to the black belt graduation. We will be having demo's and
funny skits. Please invite all your friends to come to the show.
Saturday night we will be having our awards dinner, which is semi-
formal. Every year we have a great time at the dinner and this year
we are going to have special demo's from some of the master
instructors that will be here. Sunday morning we are having special
seminars with the master instructors and you really don't want to
miss this opportunity to train with these legendary instructors.
Please pick up all the info at the main school or talk to your Sensei.
Black Belt Lesson of the Week
Put First Things First
For the civilian, most conflicts are vague. He struggles like a boxer
fighting in the dark against unknown sources. He stumbles in the dark
and wastes his creative energy, unsure who his opponent is. In some
situations the target is clear, a person attacks you on the street,
he is easily identified. But in many situations, the attack is
camouflaged. Many times the real problem is not what you see in front
of you, but coming from another direction entirely. A warrior uses
question likes, " Who is the opponent?" The problem may not be a
person, but a personality; not an individual but an attitude; not an
organization but a policy.
In identifying challenges for our growth in order to put first things
first, we start by identifying our values and goals. The following
questions should help you qualify what is important to you.
List the five most important things in your life.
In 30 seconds identify your top 3 goals.
If you found out that you had just won 1 million dollars, what would
you do?
What would you do if you had only 6 months to live?
What have you always wanted to do, but have been afraid to try?
Looking back over your life, what has brought you the most sense of
importance?
If there was one thing that you could have what would it be?
Remember all things are possible. It all depends on how bad do you
want it, and are you willing to pay the price.
Dear Students, Teachers and Parents, As we all try to get back to day to day business after the attacks on our country, I think it is more apparent than ever...
