Hi Everyone,
Just a quick note to let everyone know we got back from Atlanta and
the World Championship was great. Dawn took a silver medal in kumite
(sparring) and Mike took a bronze medal in kata. Former students Jeff
Cooper took a bronze in sparring and Sheri Ravenscroft took a 4th
place. Aaron Lapoint took a silver medal in sparring and Miguel
Serrano took a first place in senior's kata.
This weekend we have Robert Huton coming in from England and he is
doing a seminar on Tai Chi and its applications. The seminar will run
from 1:00 – 2:30 at the main school on York Road. Cost for the
seminar will be $25.
We are also doing a Chinese demonstration at the fine arts center
this Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Another example of perfect timing, we have
been in communication with a martial arts teacher in China to come to
the US to teach for the last year. Well, I got the call last night
and he is on his way. We are going to help him get started teaching
his authentic Wushu and Tai Chi Chuan here in Colorado Springs.
Please tell your friends that he is here and he will start teaching
within a week or so. We will probably have him perform at the demo
this Saturday.
As the new school year approaches, I will begin sending our weekly
newsletter again and cover the concepts of the week that we will
cover in the dojo and at our clubs. Things are falling into place and
this is going to be a great year. Out black belt graduation is the
weekend of October 19th and 20th. The event is going to be held at
the Air Force Academy and tickets to the events will be going on sale
this week. From what I have seen – it's going to be awesome!
Yours in the Arts,
Terry Bryan, Kyoshi
