The Eastside Volleyball Club is pleased to present the 5th Annual Pepsi Cola Girls High School Volleyball All Star Classic. The event will be held on December 6-7, 2003 at the Eastside Centre; #1 Eastside Drive; East Peoria, Illinois 61611. Nominations for potential athletes can be made at www.eastsidevb.net. Nominations will be held until October 31, 2003 for any senior high school athlete. The online nomination will enter the players information into a database that will be made available and may be referenced by over 3000 recruiters and coaches.
Last years event featured nearly 285 athletes and we anticipate this year’s event to exceed 300. The teams will be comprised of 10-12 players each. The criteria for players should be higher caliber players that have aspirations and would be qualified to play collegiate volleyball. This year’s selection process will dictate having no more than 3 players from the same school on the same team. There is no limitation on nominations, but asking coaches to use good judgment. The event although an exposure event, doesn't mean that only uncommitted players may attend, as the event's focus is on the All Star aspect. The event's focus is meant to bring positive closure on the high school careers of the participating athletes and introduce them to a higher caliber level of volleyball. The recruiting potential is a bonus.
The cost for participation will be $25 for each player and will cover their uniform top(s), officiating, and facility expenses. There will also be a small admission fee for fans of $3. There will also be an Adidas shop made available that will offer volleyball apparel, equipment, and event & motivational t-shirts. Upon arriving each player will receive a packet of schedules and collegiate information along with 2 uniform tops, 1 for each day. Please make sure and provide the uniform top size on the nomination form. There will be made a best effort to provide the requested size, but be advised that the tops must be ordered ahead of time and might defer from the requested size. The event committee is pleased to have teamed up with Adidas and Pepsi Cola for providing uniform tops for each day and are in the process of securing a volleyball manufacturer.
This event has become a featured event among collegiate recruiters and over 125 recruiters will most likely be present, while the recruiting information will be made available to over 3000 recruiters via e-mail. Last years event, although ran during the D-I quiet period, featured over 125 recruiters and coaches from 26 states at the NAIA, D-II, D-III & JC level of play. Most of the former athletes that have participated at previous All Star Classic’s have reported a vast number of recruiting offers they have been presented. This event has become an invaluable tool for recruiters and potential athletes for exposure.
The event committee is also asking coaches that are interested, to volunteer to coach. There will be utilization of the Eastside Club Volleyball staff for some of the teams, but they will not be able to cover all teams. There is currently an anticipation of having 28-30 teams.
