Why do you say "you are not allowed to study the art"?
You really can't understand the art with out having a valid
instructor to train under. If you only watch video tape's you will
not understand the concepts and understand that each person can be
creative in there own way. Most Martial art systems are restricted to
only forming to there belief's. Meaning "You should only block this
way" ect... With Kajukenbo you learn threw a good instructor how to
bring out the best in your ability, and you shouldn't be limited to a
certain movement of defense. The problem occurs when a student wants
all the information and techniques of the system, but you still have
to know how and when to apply the techniques correctly. You can only
get this type of training from an experienced Sifu "Instructor or
Professor in the ART. Think about it. Do you really think you can
learn the system from a video?? You will have question that will need
answers and you will need to understand why and how you perform a
technique a certain way? I have made video tapes for my students "but
only as a helpful reminder of the movements and to have some sort of
a reference to look at. Any one can practice the Art on the surface.
But you only understand the art by training hard with other students
and threw a good instructor. "YOU MAKE THE ART" IN WHAT EVER ART YOU
STUDY. MARTIAL ARTS ARE PREFORMANCED BASED. HOW YOU PREFORM IT. The
same as Actor's, there art is a performance based art. You can study
how to be an actor and watch video's on acting. But to become a
recognized actor you must have good coaching and you must be able to
perform what you do.
Ill stop here... but really think about it. Can you really learn a
system by just watching it on tape?
